03 Febrero 2019

After yesterday heavy rain conditions today the Adria Karting Raceway was able to live dry races in the OK-Junior class.

In prefinal A, Andrea Kimi Antonelli from Rosberg Racing Academy was unstoppable and won the race by more than 5 seconds ahead of Josep Maria Martí from Tony Kart Racing Team. In prefinal B, Rafael Camara (Birel ART Racing) won the race after a post-race penalty for William Siverholm (Ward Racing).

In Final B, Ricky Flynn Motorsport driver Laurens Van Hoepen dominated the race after an incredible 14 positions of comeback. Brazilian Vinicius Tessaro (Parolin Racing Kart) wasn’t able to repeat the victory that he had last week but finished second ahead of Miron Pingasov (DPK Racing).

But the Final was a race to remember thanks to a memorable fight for the win between Rafael Camara, William Silverholm, Robert de Haan (Energy Corse), Andrea Antonelli and Josep Maria Martí.

Andrea Antonelli had a very quick start and took the lead from second place in the grid. The Italian lead the field comfortably followed by William Silverholm (Ward Racing) and Robert de Haan.

But their pursuers pressured him and on lap 10, Swedish driver William Silverholm took the lead. This led to an amazing fight between Silverholm, Antonelli and De Haan that finished with a contact for Andrea Antonelli who spun on lap 13 and dropped to eight place. Antonelli finally managed to finish in sixth place.

This three-way fight let Josep Maria Martí catch the front-runners. The Catalan in took the lead of the race with two laps remaining.

Onto last lap, Martí was overtook by Silverholm at turn 2. Then Camara tried aggressively the move at turn 6 but did not work out. At the same moment Martí managed to overtake Camara but not Silverholm. One corner later, Martí come over Silverholm, making contact and letting Martí get the lead and the victory of the race while Silverholm had to retire after a spectacular run.

A post-race investigation gave Martí a 10 second of penalty because of bad manoeuvre.  Thanks to that, Camara was the one who was in the highest step of the podium. De Haan finished second while Ten Brinke completed the podium like he already did it in WSK Champions Cup.

The WSK Super Master Series will be back on track in three weeks in South Garda Karting (Lonato).
