The NEWMAN Motorsport season in the Italian ACI Karting Championship started from the Triscina International Circuit (Trapani).

Among the over 120 registered drivers, the Cesena team headed by team manager Andrea Pedrini showed up at the starting line with 9 drivers divided into the "X30 Junior" categories - Mattia Bucci, Flavio Olivieri, Matteo Luvini, Emanuele Bruscino, Vincenzo Scarpetta - " MINI ”- Giacomo Pedrini (Cesena), Thomas Baldassarri (Lugo di Ravenna) and Andrea Bruscino - and“ Entry Level ”with the very young Alessandro Pellegrino.

Even though they were all making their debut on the fast Sicilian track, the standard bearers stood out from the very first heats. On Friday, Matteo Luvisi stands out in the qualifying tests with a time of 49,481, followed by Flavio Olivieri in tenth position, Vincenzo Scarpetta (eleventh), Mattia Bucci (thirteenth) and Emanuele Bruscino (twentieth).

Thanks to the two third places conquered in the following two heats, Flavio Olivieri snatched the second absolute position, followed by Matteo Luvisi (eighth overall). With eleven positions recovered in race-1, run on Sunday morning, Vincenzo Scarpetta climbs the ranking up to sixth place, behind Flavio Olivieri with Matteo Luvisi and Mattia Bucci completing the top-10 and the points zone. In the second race Vincenzo Scarpetta and Matteo Luvisi conquer the points area again with an eighth and tenth place.

In the MINI, the young Thomas Baldassarri from Lugo di Ravenna (born in 2006) stands out. In the qualifying tests he posted the twelfth time with 54.466 and the two following heats with ninth place overall. In the two races on Sunday he becomes the protagonist of numerous overtaking and only a contact denies him the satisfaction of conquering a prestigious result by entering the top-6. However, the points area is reached by Andrea Bruscino, thanks to a fifth and ninth place finish.

I have to congratulate all the boys. Unfortunately they collected much less than they deserved. They were all on their debut on this track. They all adapted very quickly, even if they lacked a pinch of malice and that experience that is fundamental in this kind of races and Championship. In particular, I was very sorry for Mattia (Bucci ed), whose accelerator cable broke in a really anomalous point, and for Thomas (Baldassarri ed). The top-6 was within his reach” comments Andrea Pedrini.

The next round is scheduled at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno on 28-30 August for the second round of the Tricolore Championship
