30 January 2019

Dörr Motorsport has been active in kart racing for exactly 20 years and started at the 24h-race on the Nurburgring for the first time in 1999. As partner of McLaren Customer Racing, Dörr Motorsport is the only dealer in Germany that sells McLaren race cars for customer sport and since this year also official customer sport partner of the British. In addition to an engagement with two McLaren 570S GT4 in the newly-founded ADAC GT4 Germany, the Hessians are also going to enlarge their range in kart racing.

Dörr Motorsport already took over the import of the kart brand Kart-Republic in 2018 and celebrated huge successes. Together with the TB Racing Team, which coordinates the racing uses in kart racing, they won the FIA Karting European Championship, became FIA Kart Vice World Champion and won the ADAC Kart Masters, among other achievements.

To close the gap from kart racing to automobile sports, Dörr Motorsport now presented the McLaren Customer Racing Driving School. Talented race drivers are trained in the Driving School for commitments in further racing. Team manager Robin Dörr is excited about the new project: “Almost all contemporary talents have their roots in kart racing. We now want to tie in with this and begin early on with the set-up and furtherance of young race drivers. The GT sport provides a very good basis for the subsequent entry into racing.”

In addition to the purposeful entry into GT sport, the McLaren Customer Racing Driving School trains its drivers holistically. That includes fitness tests, media trainings, sponsor acquisition and speech trainings. Simultaneously, simulator tests with subsequent data analysis and workshops await the protégés at the McLaren headquarters in British Woking.

The McLaren Customer Racing Driving School presented its drivers for the 2019 season at the kart fair in Offenbach on the Main. Reigning European Champion Hannes Janker, German Kart Vice Champion Hugo Sasse and ADAC Kart Masters-Champion Ben Dörr are going to line up in the striking orange design of the McLaren GT Driving School. The karts are going to be deployed and maintained by the TB Racing Team surrounding Thomas Braumüller again. Phil Dörr, reigning champion of Senior class in Rotax Max Challenge Germany will compete on a McLaren 570S GT4 in ADAC GT4 Germany.

„With these four drivers, we have a talented foursome at the McLaren Customer Racing Driving School. It’s important to us for the drivers to advance and apply the talent they showed at kart racing in the GT cars as well. We now provide a strong basis for this”, adds team principal Rainer Dörr.
