Maranello Kart has honoured at best the Italian title won last year in KZ2, as Marco Zanchetta secured a good result in the opener of the Italian ACI Karting Championship in La Conca as did the other drivers of the Italian outfit have been shining in the KZ3 categories.

Maranello Kart’s presence in the shifter categories has been quite numerous as the Italian outfit fielded 24 drivers that displayed a good competitiveness in all categories. Marco Zanchetta put in a superb performance at the World Circuit La Conca and secured a podium finish in KZ2’s Race1, ending third in his first race of the season. Alessio Zanotti has also taken a podium being third in KZ3 Under and Cristian Griggio was second in KZ3 Over.

In the most powerful category, KZ2, Marco Zanchetta has been one of the strongest protagonists earning a deserved third place in Race1, after good qualifying practice and heats. This result is particularly important for the classification of the Italian 2018 Championship. Zanchetta could not repeat such a good result in Race2 though, as he was unfortunately involved in an incident while trying to recover the positions lost by the top 8 grid inversion, but the speed displayed by the Italian driver has been very high nevertheless. The other Maranello Kart driver Marco Pastacaldi could not show his best due to a double incident in Race1 and Race2 and therefore had to settle for P21.

Maranello Kart claimed another podium in KZ3 Under. Alessio Zanotti took in fact a great P3 in Race1, proceeding team mate Filippo D’Attanasio. Among the quickest of KZ3 Under’s Race1, Irnerio Cittadini was ninth and Michael Dalle Stelle 12th. Cittadini ended Race2 in fifth place, while Zanotti was seventh, Rodolfo Massaro 11th, Dalle Stelle 13th and was followed by Stefano Bonanno. Francesca Cifola also run a strong weekend ending Race2 in P16 after being 20th in Race1. Francesco Alaimo was also present in KZ3 and ended 21st in Race1 due to a 10s time penalty before being forced to the retirement from Race2.

The main protagonist of KZ3 Over on Maranello Kart was Cristian Griggio, who posted the pole position time in qualifying. After winning the first qualifying heat, Griggio run a good final one claiming P2. Maranello Kart’s Simone Maman was eighth and proceeded team mates Marco Tessarolo, Figueiredo De Castro and Attilio Borghi. The competitiveness of Maranello Kart’s drivers was good also in Race2 and Simone Maman crossed the finish line in fifth position, proceeding Cristian Griggio and Attilio Borghi. Angelo De Santis also closed his effort within the top ten.

Mattia Giannini of Team Oracle Racing led by Flavio Sani struggled a bit more in KZ3 Junior in this occasion. Due also to a not great qualifying, Giannini could not show the pace he would have wanted in the two finals held in La Conca, ending Race1 in P12 and being forced to the retirement from Race2 due to a contact after recovering some positions early on.

The next round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship will take place next June 10th at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno (Salerno).
