In the MINI categories, given the tender age and (in some cases) the inexperience of the drivers on the track, contacts are the order of the day. Precisely for this reason, for safety issues and to prevent breakage or the need to continually change axles (bent due to collisions and accidents on the track), the CIK-FIA requires increased thickness in their construction. The difference between Senior and MINI kart axles, again in terms of thickness, is about 3 mm. According to the FIA Karting technical regulations, in fact, a predetermined minimum value must be respected, which is inversely proportional to the outer diameter of the axle. In the Senior categories, where 50 mm outer diameter models are usually used, the thickness must be at least 1.9 mm, while for MINIs, which mount 30 mm axles, this value is 4.9 mm.
