At the basis of the commercial success and global distribution of Rotax MAX engines there is, without a shadow of a doubt, the facilitated management, in terms of maintenance and periodic overhauls, of these engines. A feature that, moreover, has ensured greater accessibility to karting, allowing even the less experienced to approach our sport. It should be noted, however, that, although they require less attention than Direct Drive and Shifter engines (OK and KZ types, for example), like all 2-stroke engines, Rotax MAX engines also need due care to be carried out through the precise periodic frequency of maintenance work. To do these activities in the best possible way, in addition to special instrumentation and a good basic knowledge of the internal dynamics of an engine, it can be useful to have tools that will allow you to facilitate the various steps, ensuring that you work with more simplicity and precision, also saving a lot of time! Clutch lock tool

With TaG (Touch and Go) electric start engines, just like Rotax MAX engines, the clutch is one of the most wear prone internal components. This is why cleaning and overhauling this element on a precise periodic basis (approximately every 3-4 days of use on the track) will protect you from unpleasant surprises, both in terms of its durability over time and from a regulatory point of view, since the technical regulations of the Rotax MAX Challenge (the one-brand championship promoted by the Austrian company) require minimum measures to be taken for this component,  beyond which there is a risk of incurring disqualification. The article that we propose will greatly facilitate the activities of checking the clutch of your Rotax MAX engine (together with the products indicated in "Must Have | 4 useful tools for overhauling the clutch"). In fact, this tool allows you to lock the clutch, facilitating above all the unscrewing phase of the nut that keeps the entire structure (including the pinion and the clutch cover) fastened to the engine. How should it be used? By simply adhering the teeth of the tool to those in the outermost part of the "clutch pack", in this way a rotation lock is created that allows the clutch fastening nut to be easily released.
