An incorrect alignment between the gearwheel and sprocket, as explained in the TKART article “How to install  the gear ratio on direct drive karts”, drastically shortens the life of the gear wheel. However, it can happen especially in times of haste, to install a gearwheel without implementing a proper alignment. In these cases, to avoid damaging the gearwheel, it will be necessary to have installed the floating gearwheel support on the kart. The accessory consists of a gearwheel fastened to the hub by means of bushings which allow a gearwheel axial movement of a few millimeters. By doing this, the gearwheel will follow the alignment dictated by the sprocket without being worn out by the chain.
