Like it's car racing circuit which surrounds it, Le Mans is also one of the most famous kart circuits in the world. There are actually 3 kart circuits at Le Mans, the first was built in the 1960's before the Alain Prost circuit was built in 1976 which hosted the World Championships 3 times; in 1978, 1983 and 1991. In 2013 the third track, an all new 1384 metre circuit was built just inside the Porsche curves and within 2 years it hoested the KZ World Championships. Situated just a 2 hour drive from Paris and with the city of Le Mans coping with nearly 300,000 spectators every year for the car race, Le Mans has all the neccessary infrastructure to cope with major events such as the European Championship which it hosts regularly.
