Automovel Touring Clube de Maputo
This circuit was built in two phases, the first in 1962 and the second almost certainly in 1970. On 25 June 1975, Mozambique gained independence from Portugal. From 1975 to 1981 the new government made motor racing illegal and the circuit was abandoned. 10 years later, the first race after independence was held in 1991. Later the circuit was used occasionally, but it was now in bad condition. Between 2001 and the beginning of 2004 (probably at the end of 2003) a small part of the circuit was destroyed and its area was built. On July 14, 2006, work began on the complete renovation of the racetrack and the construction of a kart track, a motocross track and other infrastructures (via www.gdecarli.it)
