CIK-FIA World KZ Championship
The 125cc gearbox class was introduced as a world championship more as an enthusiasts class with races conducted on a combination of sprint kart, motorcycle and also car racing circuits. The category was originally known as Formula C (KZ). The world championship was even held at Charlotte, USA in 1996 venturing outside of Europe for the first time. The last Formula C World Championship was held at Mariembourg in Belgium in 2000 and won by Gianluca Beggio. However with the decline and ultimate demise of the KF category, combined with a general trend towards faster and longer tracks (1500 metres +), the world championship is re-introduced in 2013 for KZ with the title won by Max Verstappen.
