Tony Kart - Victory at the Winter Cup
GM
Giovanni Mele
20 February 2020

We come back successful from the 25th Winter Cup thanks to the wonderful victory conquered by our Joseph Turney in the OK category, reaching the first step of the podium of the prestigious event taking place at the South Garda Karting together with Lorenzo Travisanutto, closing second.

Both our drivers lead most of the race at the wheel of their Tony Kart Racer 401 R chassis powered by Vortex: the current World Champion remains in top position in the first laps after conquering the Pole Position thanks to two victories in the Qualifying Heats. Joseph, instead, 8 laps to go, takes the lead completing an incredible comeback from the eleventh position of the grid. The Englishman recovers the unlucky withdrawal during the heats with two victories, a second place and the victory in the Super Heat 2.

Pedro Hiltbrand is once again the author of an excellent performance, damaged by a penalty at the end of the race, depriving him from a 5th position and a 13-position comeback. The Spaniard at the end is ninth, after a victory and excellent positions however vanished by a contact in the Super Heat. Good weekend also for Diego Contecha, who improves his starting position in the decisive race after running a wonderful qualifying and finishing in top ten twice.

In KZ2Simo Puhakka starts his weekend in the best way conquering a Pole position followed by two victories and two second places obtained during Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, during the Super Heat, a bit of bad luck compromises a top-level weekend. In final the Finn ends sixth. Paul Evrard manages to improve his starting position and closing a fantastic debut weekend with the Tony Kart Racing Team, staying in top ten in all the Heats. Alessio Piccini proves to be once again among the most fighting drivers of the group recovering 23 positions in the Qualifying Heats.

Karol Pasiewicz ends the final of the OKJ category in second position, relying on his Tony Kart during the most difficult stages of the race. Technical checks in the parc fermé however assign several penalties, vanishing the excellent result of the Pole and withdraw our Harley Keeble and Aiden Neate, standing out throughout the whole weekend. Bruno Del Pino, at his début under our tent, closes just outside the top ten after gaining 4 places in the first ten positions during the Heats and the Super Heats. Maxim Rehm, unluckily, is forced to withdraw again and he is deprived from putting his progress to good use. Forced absence, instead, for Eron Rexhepi, due to injury.

The Tony Kart Racing Team does not stop and is now preparing to the forthcoming appointment with the 2nd round of the WSK Super Master Series scheduled this weekend. Stage of the race will still be the South Garda karting in Lonato (Italy) where drivers of the KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI categories will get on track.
