WSK Open Cup, rd 1-2, Adria: qualifying - Pole Position for Gustavsson and Pex (KZ2), Barnard (OK), Sato and Clausen (OKJ), Van Langendonck and Gladysz (Mini)

The double round of the WSK Open Cup kicks off, with timed practice for both rounds already staged at the Adria Karting Raceway. Scheduled for today are also the first Qualifying Heats valid for the first round which will end tomorrow, while the Qualifying Heats valid for the second round will start on Friday and end on Saturday morning. On the same day, all pre-finals will take place, before the final day on Sunday, when the drivers will take to the track for the decisive races of both rounds that will assign the titles.

KZ2: best time for Viktor Gustavsson and Stan Pex

The pole position of Round 1 in the gearbox category goes to the reigning European Champion Viktor Gustavsson (Leclerc By Lennox Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing,) who leads Senna Van Walstijn (CPB Sport - SOdikart - TM Racing) and Stan Pex ( KR Motorsport - KR –TM Racing). Tom Leuillet (Praga Racing Team - Praga - TM Racing), 4th, precedes Juho Valtanen (KR Motorsport - KR –TM Racing) and Laurens Van Hoepen (Leclerc By Lennox Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing), both still beginners in the category.

In the qualifying for the second round the best time is clocked by Stan Pex. Second time for Tom Leuillet who precedes the two teammates Viktor Gustavsson and Laurens Van Hoepen. Senna Van Walstijn (CPB Sport - Sodikart - TM Racing) is fifth ahead of Leonardo Marseglia (Marseglia Pasquale - Birel ART - TM Racing) while Juho Valtanen (KR Motorsport - KR - TM Racing), this time, finishes out of the top ten.

OK: Taylor Barnard doubles up

The English Taylor Barnard (Rosberg Racing Academy - KR - IAME) will start from the pole in the Heats of both rounds of the WSK Open Cup. Behind him, in the first qualifying, sits Marcus Amand (VDK Racing - KR - IAME) and the two rookies Brando Badoer (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) and Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex). To close the top five we find Nikolas Pirtthilati (Forza Racing - Exprit - TM Racing), with a gap of just 0.001 seconds from Taponen. 15th time for another rookie, Alfio Spina (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), while Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin Racing Kart - Parolin - TM Racing) closes in 18th position.

The second best lap set in the second timed practice session was that of Nikola Tsolov (DPK Racing - KR - IAME), also stepping up from the Junior class. The Bulgarian, 13th in the first qualifying, precedes Andrey Zhivnov (Team Komarov - Tony Kart - TM Racing), Brando Badoer and Nikolas Pirrthilati. Sixth place for Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) ahead of Alex Dunne (Energy Corse - Energy Corse - TM Racing), with Victoria Blokhina (Ward Racing - Tony kart - Vortex) in ninth position. Marcus Amand, on the other hand, after the second time recorded in the qualifying valid for the first round, fails to put together a good lap and sits at the bottom of the standings.

OKJ: Pole for Rintaro Sato and Tobias Clausen

Rintaro Sato (Ricky Flynn Motorsport - Kosmic - Vortex) posts the best time of the qualifying of the first round, thus edging Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (Birel ART Racing - RK - TM Racing), the best of the first qualifying group, and Manuel Scognamiglio (Gamoto - Tony Kart - Vortex). Alex Powell (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), 4th, precedes Karol Pasiewicz (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) and rookie James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex). Eighth Arvid Lindblad (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) while the World Champion Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport - Kosmic - Vortex) is 14th ahead of the European Champion Ugo Ugochukwu (Sauber karting Team - KR - IAME), 17th.

It is still a Ricky Flynn Motorsport driver who leads the second qualifying, but this time is Tobias Clausen, first ahead of Ugo Ugochukwu and Valerio Rinicella (Parolin Racing Kart - Parolin - TM Racing). Manuel Scognamiglio stays close to the top in fourth position ahead of Alex Powell while Freddie Slater enters the top-10 in tenth position behind Tymoteusz Kucharczyk. Rintaro Sato, the poleman of the first round, and James Egozi, respectively 14th and 26th, slide further back. No time for Dmitry Matveev (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), making his debut in the category.

MINI: The best are Dries Van Langendonck and Maciej Gladysz

First pole in WSK for the Belgian Dries Van Langendonck (Leclerc By Lennox Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing), who in his qualifying group rules Maciej Gladysz (Parolin Racing Kart - Parolin - TM Racing), while Salim Hanna Hernandez (Energy Corse - Energy - TM Racing), is the best of his group ahead of teammate Andres Cardenas. We have to go further back, however, to find some of the protagonists of the season so far: René Lammers (Baby Race Driver Academy - Parolin - TM Racing) and 28th Kean Nakamura-Berta (Team Driver Racing Kart - KR - IAME) fails to go beyond the 34th position.

At the top of the timesheet in the second qualifying we find the name of Maciej Gladysz, followed by Andres Cardenas and Aleksandar Bogunovic (Gamoto - Tony Kart - TM Racing). Dries Van Langendonck is fourth, ahead of Renè Lammers and Gerasim Skulanov (Formula K Serafini ASD - IPK - TM Racing). Salim Hanna Hernandez occupies the seventh position while Kean Nakamura-Berta improves with respect to the first qualifying, managing to enter the top ten behind his teammate Antonio Apicella (Team Driver Racing Kart - KR - IAME).
