WSK CHAMPIONS CUP : KFJ - POLE POSITION BY CHRISTIAN LUNDGAARD

HOT NEWS - TKART - MURO LECCESE (ITALIA) - In this first round of the WSK Champions Cup at the La Conca circuit, the KFJ stepped on track with a nice mix of drivers that ranges from experienced to "first timers".  The one who topped the charts of this first qualifying Friday is Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart/Vortex).

The Dane belongs to the category of the more experienced  entries and he proved it as soon as he stepped on track in group 2, stopping the watch at 47.752 and claiming pole position. Second up in the charts we find the fastest from group 1 – he actually scored the third best time overall, but regulations call for the alternation of the two groups in the composition of the general rankings, so he conquers the runner up spot. We are speaking of Sebastian Wahbeh Fernandez (Exprit/Vortex), Venezuelan driver of the RB Racing team, who already had some scattered highlights last season. His time is of 47.851.

Behind him in the general qualifying ranks we find Lorenzo Colombo (Tony Kart/LKE). Seeing him go so fast came as a bit of a surprise, considering that in last year’s KFJ he was in a whole other speed league. Actually, to be precise, he was running a whole different “ball game”. Today he is competing as a privateer, while in 2014 he was one of the many kids running with the Baby Race team.

Fourth place corresponds to Russian rookie Ivan Shvetsov (Tony Kart/Vortex), who today raced in group 1.

A Swiss couple follows in fifth and sixth place. The first is Clement Novalak (Tony Kart/Vortex) , who went from Kosmic "pink"  to Tony Kart "green" . We can say he opened his debut in a great way. The other is Davide Lombardo (Exprit/Vortex). Finnish driver Konsta Lappalainen (Tony Kart/Vortex) placed seventh, followed by Ricky Flynn Motorsport driver Logan Sargeant (FA/Vortex) from the USA, who bears the responsibility of defending his team’s honor roll. Behind him there is a new Ricky Flynn Motorsport driver, Sami Worship (Fa Kart/Vortex) from England, who – from the looks of it – didn’t feel the pressure of his debut one bit.
Muizzuddin Gafar (CRG/Vortex) wraps up the top 10. Originally from Malaysia, last year he was in the Mini. This race marks the KFJ debut for both him and his team,  Gamoto, an outfit that never participated in the category before now.

Down the line we findf a trio of experienced class drivers who failed to excel. Respectively thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth, they are Presley Martono (Tony Kart/Vortex), Felipe Drugovich (Kosmic/Vortex) and Kush Maini (Tony Kart/Vortex). Thumbs down, instead, for Artem Petrov (DR/TM), who was one of last year’s greatest surprises. Today he’s the one who got the surprise, in the form of a technical failure that relegated him to fiftieth place.
