Verstappen and Joyner: champions of the world 2013
TKART Staff
08 December 2013

Paris was the context of a spectatcular evening on Saturday December 7th. The occasion was the annual FIA Award Ceremony. The top 2013 winners of all motorsport disciplines were honored on a very glamorous stage.

This year the motpsport pantheon was all there: from Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel and the Rally top-duo of Ogier and Ingrassia to Rober Kubica, who was honored with the "personality of the year" award; but also "our very own" Max Verstappen, KZ World champion (and also European champion in both KZ and KF) and Tom Joyner, KF World champion. Max is by now a "known face" in this prestigious event, after his world successes of the past few years. "It was an immense satisfaction to receive this award. I feel I had the perfect season, th eprefect way to close my karting career and move on to auto racing" said Vertappen. Tom Joyner's presence, instead, was more of a "surprise", if we consider that he topped the World title hunt after not too brilliant of a season. As he himself recognized: "When I arrived in Bahrain I didn't think I could win, but when I saw my rivals having a tough time, I went for it. I realized I won only when I pulled over to the pit box.Being here is a dream come true for me. The goal now is to keep doing great, in karting of course".

Both drivers are hoping to shine on track for time to come. And judging on their achievements thus far, they are on the right path.
