Big West Coast karting event set for July of 2021

With the aim to give back to the kart racer, a group of sanctioning bodies has come together to form the United States Karting Grand Prix (USKGP). Led by the World Karting Association (WKA), TaG USA and AKTPA, the USKGP is set for July 23-25 at the famed Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) in Tooele, Utah. Utilizing both the sprint and road racing track layouts, karting will take over UMC with the new United States Karting Grand Prix.

“Kevin Williams and I have I talked about doing something cool for the karter and having a major West Coast karting event,” explained Marty Casey of TaG USA. “This event is all about the karter with every penny going back to the racer after expenses are covered. It was a tough 2020 and things in 2021 are looking up but as a group, we want to be able to provide the North American karting community a premier event to look forward to.”

“Having a group of sanctioning bodies come together and work for the karter in today’s day in age is something that you do not see often,” added WKA President Kevin Williams. “When the idea was presented to me, I jumped at the opportunity to have the WKA brand involved, but also to lend a hand where I can on a personal level.”

“We are looking forward to making the inaugural United States Karting Grand Prix a huge success,” continued Dave Larson from TaG Racing International. “We are also pleased to have support and participation from some of America’s premier Western Series, NCK Road Race and the Puget Sound Road Racing Association. This is going to be a terrific event.”

While event details will be communicated in the coming weeks, the USKGP will also launch an event website at www.USKartingGrandPrix.com. Stay tuned for more information.
