2012 is more than a month away, and yet the karting federation (CIK-FIA) and WSK Promotion have already produced official dates for the International competitions of the 2012 season. There’s enough to please all.

Starting from CIK-FIA: the five dates of the World championship, which will again be raced with KF1 engines, are confirmed (Italy, France, and England in Europe and Japan and Macao in Asia, from April to October), as are the three rounds of the Under 18 World championship (again in tandem with the  Academy Trophy). Shifter categories will compete for the World Cup and the European title respectively in September in Sarno (Italy, same date as the KF1 World championship) and in June in Wackersdorf (Germany), hopefully with the same top level entry list as last year. Hot news for the KF2 & KF3 Europeans (the World Cup for both will take place in September in Zuera): as of this year, the champion in the two categories will be decided over two matches and on the basis of a points system. WSK is also all set to go. After collective tests for all categories in February, the new season will kick off in March with the first change: the WSK Master Series (KZ1-2, KF2, KF3 and 60 Mini) will no longer be over five rounds, but over three instead. The Euro Series, which will include the 60 Mini in Italian competitions, is set to unfold over four rounds (Sarno and La Conca in Italy, Val D’Argenton in France, and Zuera in Spain in July).  The Final Cup, featuring a single match, will take place in October in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Italy), while the WSK Champions Cup will be over two consecutive weekends (the track is yet to be announced) between late October and early November and should be open to all categories: KZ1-2, KF1, KF2, KF3 and 60 Mini.
