Following a successful weekend of racing at Whilton Milll, Northampton, which left him P2 in the British Championship, Kiern Jewiss will be returning to Adria, Italy this weekend for the second round of the European Championship.

[dropcap]K[/dropcap]iern displayed blistering pace throughout the weekend at Whilton Mill, finding himself P1 in the pre-final, and taking pole position for the main race. He maintained his lead for most of the race, but with a few laps to go the chasing pack caught up to him. He made a bold move and took the wide line, trying to hold onto the lead but was forced wide and into the wall, bringing an untimely end to the race for him. Despite this setback, Jewiss remains in a good position for the rest of the British Championship races.
Kiern commented on the weekend: “I’m happy with the pace we had all weekend, just a bit disappointed I didn’t turn it into a result in the main final, I thought I could make it round the outside to keep the lead, but the grip just wasn’t there. The positive is I came away P2 in the championship, the negative is i’ve got a gap to bridge to P1. I’d like to thank my family for all their support.”

weekend, leaving the British championship second. We all want to win, which is why Kiern tried to hang on round the outside, but the main thing is that he learns from it. Everyone makes errors and that’s part of the learning process. Looking at the weekend on a whole though, he looked as fast as he always does."
This weekend's racing finds Jewiss returning to Adria. Familiar with the circuit following his astounding win there earlier in the year which saw him take the WSK Champions Cup, he hopes to draw on his experience to better the position gained in the first race of the European Championships in Zuera where he came away P11.
There will be two further races for the European Championship - at the Portico track in Portugal from 23 June to 26 June and Genk, Germany from 28 to 31 July.
Kiern will be taking to the 2.7 km Adria track, in the Veneto region of Italy, from 1st to 5th June. Racing can be viewed via live streaming at www.cikfia.tv and www.cikfiachampionship.com.
