Russia has emerged as the overall winner of the first ever FIA Motorsport Games held at the Vallelunga Circuit (1-3 November).

Klim Gavrilov’s Touring Car Cup gold followed two bronze medals: in the Karting Slalom Cup courtesy of Olesia Vashchuk and Vladislav Bushuev’s and Ilia Fedorov’s third place in the Drifting Cup. Together they helped Russia climb the medal table and celebrate overall triumph in this new, multidisciplinary motorsport event.

Australia and hosts Italy finished joint second with a gold and bronze medal apiece, while third was shared between the Netherlands, Ukraine and Japan, who all won a single gold.

All medallists were recognised during this evening’s closing ceremony at held at the Congress Centre Vallelunga where the first-ever edition of the event officially drew to a close.

Victor Kiryanov, President of the Russian Automobile Federation, commented: “I am very proud of my drivers and those who have helped the team to win this weekend. I am also proud of the Russian Federation and their support, without which this victory would not have been possible. I would like to thank FIA President, Jean Todt, for creating this kind of competition, which did not exist before. And I must also congratulate the Italian Federation, ACI, for being the first to stage the FIA Motorsport Games. It has been a great event.”

GT CUP:  Gold - Japan | Silver - Poland | Bronze - Australia

Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Ukyo Sasahara of Japan took GT Cup gold by triumphing in a rain-affected medal showdown. Hamaguchi started from third on the grid but had soon moved into the lead and handed over to Sasahara with a sizeable advantage.

Heavy rain led to much of the one-hour race's second half being run behind the Safety Car, though Sasahara looked untroubled during the green flag periods.

Poland collected the silver medal after starting from the front of the grid, rewarding Andrzej Lewandowski and Artur Janosz for a consistent weekend, while Australia took bronze thanks to a measured drive from father-son duo Stephen and Brenton Grove.

TOURING CAR CUP: Gold - Russia | Silver - Belgium | Bronze - Slovakia

Klim Gavrilov clinched gold in the Touring Car Cup, where medals were awarded based on aggregated results from two races.

The Team Russia Audi drivers secured gold after a victory in Saturday’s Race 1 and second place Race 2 held on Sunday.

Third place in Race 1 and a victory in Race 2 allowed Belgian racer Gilles Magnus to snatch silver. Bronze went to Mato Homola, who started off with a second place but then came fifth in Race 2.

FORMULA 4 CUP: Gold - Italy | Silver - Germany | Bronze - Finland

Andrea Rosso claimed victory in the Formula 4 Cup’s Main Race to seal Italy’s only gold of this inaugural FIA Motorsport Games.

Germany’s Niklas Kruetten and Finland’s William Alatalo completed the podium when a late-race Safety Car period dashed the hopes of long-time leader Ido Cohen.

The Israeli started from pole and controlled the first half of the 27-minute encounter, which began in damp but drying conditions, but lost the lead to Rosso with just five minutes remaining. He would lose further ground after the subsequent Safety Car period when Kruetten and Alatalo made decisive moves in quick succession.

DRIFTING CUP:  Gold - Ukraine | Silver - Czech Rep | Bronze - Russia

Dmitriy Illyuk of Ukraine secured the country’s only medal of the event by clinching victory in last night’s Drifting Cup contest. Driving a Nissan 200SX, Illyuk defeated Michal Reichert (BMW M3 E92) in the final battle to ensure his nation took the spoils at Vallelunga.

Russia left with the bronze medal thanks to Ilia Fedorov (Nissan Silvia S14), who beat Federico Sceriffo (Toyota GT 86) after the Italian made contact with his rival and sent him into the gravel just moments into their battle.

The Top 16 contest played out under the floodlights at Vallelunga and culminated in the event's first podium ceremony taking place following three hours of competition.

KARTING SLALOM CUP:  Gold - Netherlands | Silver - Belgium | Bronze - Russia

Nina Pothof and Bastiaan van Loenen clinched Karting Slalom Cup gold at the FIA Motorsport Games by seeing off regional rivals Belgium in a closely fought final contest. The medal hopefuls were whittled down to eight nations on Saturday, with just three rounds remaining on Sunday to decide which young duo would leave Vallelunga with the gold.

And it was the Netherlands who prevailed during a close-run contest in which consistency trumped outright speed.

Antoine Morlet, who shared Belgium’s entry with Manon Degotte, was the star performer during the first runs thanks to a blistering best of 48.929s. The Dutch were close on both, however, and with Pothof and Van Loenen producing consistent efforts it was they who emerged victorious. The winning margin was a mere 3.925s, but it was enough to give the Dutch gold.

Olesia Vashchuk and Vladislav Bushuev added to Russia’s medal tally by beating Portugal in the bronze match-up.

DIGITAL CUP:  Gold - Australia | Silver - Costa Rica | Bronze - Italy

Cody Nikola Latkovski has won the first-ever Digital Cup gold medal after defeating 11 other world-class drivers in the final played at a virtual Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya last evening.

The Australian beat fellow FIA-certified Gran Turismo World Championship regular Bernal Valverde, who claimed silver for Costa Rica, while local ace Stefano Conte bagged bronze for the host nation, Italy.
