The 500 Milhas de Kart, in Brazil, is one of the classic end of season events that gather the country’s most renown drivers for a unique long-distance challenge on karts.
The event this year reached its 17th edition and was dominated once again by Rubens Barrichello.

The former Ferrari driver, in fact, is the absolute record man for victories in the 500 Milhas: a grand total of 9, with the first place he won this year! Celebrating with him, since they’ve always been on the same team,  there is also Tony Kanaan, who - from his first success in 1998 to this last victory in 2013 -  has always shared the podium with Ruben.
The previous victory dates back to 2008, so the recent success was welcomed with great celebrations by Barrichello and Kanaan’s team, which this time also included Felipe Giaffone (at his 5th victory), Rafael Suzuki and Gaetano di Mauro. The Hanier Racing team closes second ahead of the Fittipaldi Piquet team, that included distinguished names like Nelsinho Piquet and Christian Fittipaldi.
The event was characterized by heavy rainfall that intermittently plagued the track for the first 6 hours of the race, which lasted a total of 12 hours.
For the third year, the evnt was held in the circuit located inside the Parco Beto Carrero World, in the state of Santa Caterina.
