[dropcap]F[/dropcap]rom many it is called karting’s golden age, a period that runs roughly from 1990 to 2000, and which will be relived for one day at the South Garda Karting track in Lonato (BS).
The event will see classy champions such as the following take to the track: Davide Foré, Ben Hanley, Colin Brown, Giorgio Pantano, Alessandro Manetti and Jordon Lennox Lamb, all exclusively on FA 100 cc karts, and it will undoubtedly be very entertaining.

Martin DC from ATR team Brask write us: “The weekend of the 4th nov, Colin Brown and his brother James Are going with ATR team Brask to do some events in Lonato, Then after planning the trip the guys talked about why not do some laps in the formula a karts, and since that Day in start of september, things escalated.. We wrote about the public testday to friends of Karting, and more and more joined, then when we made it official that Giorgio Pantano also joined us (he is also in ATR team Brask ) then things went crazy, a lot of attention and a lot more drivers came.. Shortly after Manetti, fore, Oakes, Scorey and many other Big Champions joined..."

Some of the karts, managed by Beyond kart Restoration, have been perfectly restored, from the chassis to the engine not to mention the graphics, identical to the official karts taking part in competitions in that period.
Neil McKernan (Beyond kart Restoration) explained where his passion for the restoration of 1990s karts came from: “Was lucky to be racing these when I was younger and it was a great memory for me. The feel, the smell, the danger, hitting high RPM hoping I didn't brake the engine! Then I saw the F100 championship had started in UK and was a good friend of mine Chris Griffin doing a restoration, he persuaded me to get involved. After I also met a guy in Australia called Glenn Davidson and he was making some nice restorations. The restoration is as much fun as the racing for me, searching parts, finding rare things. Etc."

It’s because the karts of the past are more fun than modern ones: “The 90s karts are in reality more fun. They are so simple, so pure and in my opinion look 100 times better than what we have today. Less than 5 mins you can change an engine. It's just how it should be. When I arrive at the circuit with my 1996 Tonykart esprit here in Italy, I get more interest than anyone else! The people love it, and the noise is another thing!"

Below you can appreciate the photos of Colin Brown’s kart; he was Formula A World Champion in 2000. You can also see Jenson Button’s kart; he was Super A European Champion in 1997. Both karts were restored with passion by Neil.
