28 June 2019

A hot wave has hit hard the Adria Karting Raceway for the last round of WSK Euro Series in the special Night Edition.

After a Wednesday of full practice, this special Night edition is very much different for the drivers and teams in terms of how the schedule is. The daily action started at 4 pm with the first free practices sessions but it was not until the very mid-night that the qualifying practice took part.

So, starting with the Mini class with a three different series the pole position finished into Energy Corse Russian driver, Kirill Kutskov (Energy/TM Racing/Vega) who set his fastest lap in the second series.

Manuel Scognamiglio (Tony Kart/TM Racing/Vega) had a chance to beat the Russian but he finished almost two tenths off, but as the quickest in the third series which leaves him in second position, while Dimitriy Matveev (Energy/TM Racing/Vega) completed the top3.

Then in OKJ the pole position was decided in the very last second during the second qualifying series. The Rosberg Racing Academy driver, Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame/Vega) beat in the last second the lap-time set by Thomas Ten Brinke (FA Kart/Vortex/Vega) in the first group.

Antonelli was only 0.020 seconds quicker which represents a lot the level of the series. Ugo Ugochukwu (FA Kart/Vortex/Vega) finished second and once again confirms he is a talent to add into favorites drivers list for final’s victory.

Also, surprising lap-time the one set by Akash Bohra (KR/Vortex/Vega). The Singaporean who has changed to the OKJ category only two months ago, finished in an astonishing fourth place just ahead of compatriot, Christian Ho (FA Kart/Vortex/Vega) who completes the lead.

Finally, OK class brought a lot of action in only the three final minutes. Firstly, Joshua Dufek (KR/Iame/Bridg) spun off at the last corner and was unable to set a quicker lap-time. But that was not the unique surprise of the session, as championship leader and reigning world champion Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR/Iame/Bridg) only managed to finish in twenty-fourth place. The pole position was for Italian Gabriele Mini (Parolin/TM Racing/Bridg) who beat Taylor Barnard (KR/Iame/Bridg) for only 0.039 seconds.

Tomorrow once again more action with the eliminatory heats starting at 17:40
