May 23, 2018 – M1 GT Racing, an Audi Sport customer racing program, is set to expand beginning this weekend at the Pirelli World Challenge event at Lime Rock Park. Housing a pair of Audi R8 GT4 LMS cars for driver Jason Bell, the elite level program has decided to enter the TCR category with the addition of another potent Audi race car.

“It is an exciting time at M1 GT Racing as we continue to support the PWC paddock and grow our own program,” explained Technical Director Remi Lanteigne. “The TCR division has taken off and we had plans to start in 2019, but it is in our best interests to start now to complete the necessary research and development work and fine tune our program.”

While M1 GT Racing will own and brand the Audi TCR car, the actual vehicle will be housed and run by M1 GT Racing sister team, The Racing Company (TRC) out of Quebec, Canada. Driven by M1 GT Racing’s Walt Bowlin, the growing programs will enter the SprintX GTS and TCR divisions.

Lanteigne continued, “Jerimy Daniel is the owner and driver at The Racing Company and is doing a great job on the budget that he has set aside for his 2018 season. Adding our new TCR car to his program will be beneficial for all parties involved. This will allow M1 GT Racing to have a bigger trackside presence, but will also assist Jerimy in every way possible. It is a win win for all of us.”

With Walt Bowlin being named the driver for the weekend, M1 GT Racing can confirm that the new Audi TCR will be on site and on track at Lime Rock Park.

“We have several new and existing drivers that are both interested and qualified for future events. The TCR program is growing and we are jumping in with both feet,” expressed Lanteigne.

With an established GT4 entrant in Jason Bell and a confirmed TCR entrant starting this weekend, M1 GT Racing is now in the process to field their Audi R8 GT3 LMS later on this year to be the first team around the world to compete on all three platforms.

M1 GT Racing will take to the Lime Rock Park facility this weekend for practice beginning on Friday morning. Wheel-to-wheel competition will start on Saturday and end on Monday.
