The FIA Karting World Championship of KZ and KZ2 celebrated in South Garda Karting (Lonato, Italy) started with a very intense qualifying’s in both categories. Sodi drivers Adrien Renaudin and Emilien Denner took the pole positions in KZ and KZ2, while Kajus Siksnelis was the quickest in the Academy trophy.

KZ: Renaudin takes pole position in an intense qualifying

The KZ qualifying was one of the biggest battles we have seen today on track.

In the first group, despite the big competition, Marijn Kremers (Birel Art/TM Racing/B’stone) was the quickest with a lap-time of 46.244 followed by teammate Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM Racing/B’stone) and Stan Pex (KR/TM Racing/B’stone) who both set the exactly same lap-time.

But Kremers lap was improved in the second group. Adrien Renaudin (Sodi/TM Racing/B’stone) was a man on a charge. The Frenchman was improving his lap-time all the time and battled for the pole position mainly with Alessandro Irlando (Birel Art/TM Racing/B’stone) and Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart/Vortex/B’stone).

But at the end Renaudin took the pole with a lap-time of 46.104 seconds, followed by Irlando who set 46.151 seconds. Kremers kept third place ahead of Puhakka by 0.004 seconds. Mirko Torsellini (KR/Iame/B’stone) completes the top 5 only 0.15 seconds behind Renaudin.

KZ2: Hammer time for Emilien Denner

The qualifying practice was divided in four groups in KZ2 class. In the first group David Trefilovs (Maranello/TM Racing/B’stone) started setting the pace. The final battle to be the fastest of the group was between David Vidales (Tony Kart/Vortex/B’stone) and Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM Racing/B’stone) but at the last moment, Thomas Landais (Sodi/TM Racing/B’stone) using Nomblot tow set the fastest lap that then was beaten by Giacomo Pollini (Formula K/TM Racing/B’stone).

The lap of 46.252 seconds was the one to beat in the second group. In this series, the Frenchman Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM Racing/B’stone) was dominant and beat the lap of Pollini setting the quickest lap-time so far with a time of 46.185 seconds. Also set a strong lap Emil Skaras (Energy Corse/TM Racing/B’stone) and Danilo Albanese (Tony Kart/Vortex/B’stone).

Denner’s lap-time was impossible to beat for the following groups. Only the younger Senna Van Walstijn (KR/TM Racing/B’stone) was able to do a top10 lap with the Dutchman finishing one tenth behind Denner.
