FIA Karting European Championship KZ - KZ2, and Academy Trophy rd 1, Adria: Qualifying – Pole Position for Irlando (KZ), Albanese (KZ2) and Al Azhari (Academy)

The FIA Karting season finally kicks off for the categories with the gearbox, once again on the track together with the youngsters of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. At the the end of free practice, the action on the track was suspended due to bad weather, before resuming with a delay of about an hour on the schedule. From tomorrow, the drivers will compete in the Qualifying Heats which will last until Sunday morning.

KZ: Alessandro Irlando leads the way

  • Alessandro Irlando (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) wins the first pole position of the season for the KZ category. Thanks to a time of 47,270, the Birel ART rider will start ahead of Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex) and the reigning World Champion Marijn Kremers (Birel ART Racing - Ricciardo Kart- TM Racing), on the track at the wheel of a Ricciardo Kart.

  • Lorenzo Camplese (SC Performance - Tony Kart - Vortex), with the fourth fastest time, leads Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) and the other official Tony Kart driver Noah Milell (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex).

  • Stan Pex (KR Motorsport - KR - TM Racing) brings his Kart Republic home in seventh pahead of Paolo Ippolito's CRG (CRG - CRG - TM Racing). Matteo Viganò (Leclerc By Lennox Racing -Birel ART - TM Racing) and Francesco Celenta (Praga Racing Team - Praga - TM Racing) round out the top ten.

  • Adrien Renaudin (Sodikart - Sodi - TM Racing), the only Sodikart in the race, set the eleventh time, slightly faster than Douglas Lundberg (Novalux - Lenzokart - TM Racing) and Fabian Federer (SRP Racing Team - Maranello TM Racing).

  • Jeremy Iglesias (Formula K Racing Team - Formula K - TM Racing) is 14th while we have to go down to 18th place to find Davide Forè (Renda Motorsport - Birel ART - Vortex).

  • The reigning European champion, Jorrit Pex (KR Motorsport - KR - TM Racing), did not set any valid time due to a technical problem.


Results

KZ2: Danilo Albanese sets the fastest time

  • With a time of 47.412, Danilo Albanese (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) wins the pole position of KZ2 in front of Viktor Gustavsson (Leclerc By Lennox Racing -Birel ART - TM Racing), who took to the track together with the Italian in the second group.

  • The third place goes to Paavo Tonteri (SC Performance - Tony Kart - Vortex), the best of the first group, who precedes Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) and Simone Cunati (Modena Kart ASD - Birel ART - TM Racing), which, instead, was the fastest in the third and last qualifying group.

  • From sixth to eighth position we find 3 drivers who took to the track in the first group led by Giacomo Pollini (Formula K Racing Team - Formula K - TM Racing), who precedes Leonardo Marseglia (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) and Davide De Marco (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME).

  • Positions from 9 to 13, on the other hand, are all occupied by drivers from the second group, in order Tom Leuillet (Praga Racing Team - Praga - TM Racing), Daniel Stell (Novalux - Lenzokart - TM Racing), Marcus Funda (Modena Kart ASD - Birel ART - TM Racing), Jean Luyet (DEL Motorsport - CRG - TM Racing) and Natalia Balbo (Formula K Racing Team - Formula K - TM Racing).

  • Among the others, Arthur Carbonnel (CPB Sport - Sodi - TM Racing) is the best of the CPB Sport squad in 14th position while Alexander Dahlberg (Energy Corse - Energy - TM Racing) leads the Energy Corse team in 31st. However, no valid time for Alexander Schmitz (Birel ART Racing KSW - Birel ART - TM Racing).




 

Academy: Pole Position for Keanu Al Azhari

  • The FIA KArting Academy Trophy also kicked off in Adria, with Keanu Al Azhari starting from pole position with a time of 50.499s. The UAE driver precedes Jonathan Weywadt, Alex Powell, Maxime Furon-Castelain, Oscar Wurz and Maceo Capietto, all of whom, apart from Powell, took to the track in the second qualifying group together with Al Azhari. Eron Rexhepi, Tom Braeken, Connor Zilisch and Bartlomiej Piekutowski close the top ten.
