The Corona virus also causes a postponement in the German Kart Championship. The season kick-off was supposed to take place in Ampfing from May 8th – 10th. The race is now being moved to October. All other dates remain unchanged and the season is now going to start at the beginning of June in Wackersdorf. Participants can still register without a late-fee.
Numerous measures were taken throughout these past days to protect the population and contain the Corona virus in Europe. These also regard sporting events. The German Kart Championship with its five grade series DKM, DJKM, DSKM, DSKC and DEKM is now reacting to the new developments and postpones the season kick-off that was supposed to take place from May 8th – 10th in Ampfing.
The race on the Schweppermannring is now going to be the final event of the 2020 season. From October 16th – 18th, the final races are going to take place on the 1.063m long track in Bavaria. All other dates remain unchanged. The kick-off is now going to take place at the beginning of June (5th -7th) in Wackersdorf. After that, things are going to continue in Kerpen, Mülsen and Genk (Belgium).
The registration deadline for the DKM, DJKM, DSKM, DSKC and DEKM with the regular fees ended on March 1st. All registrations after that had to pay a late-fee of 500€. The German Motorsports Foundation (DMSB) has decided to extend the deadline for the time being. All participants who entered their registrations until March 1st as well as all new registrations only have to pay the regular fee of 2.700€ for the DKM, DJKM and DSKM, 2.400€ for the DSKC and 12.900€ for the DEKM.
Due to the date change, the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) is now only going to take place at three racing weekends of the DKM. The first pure electric kart racing series in the world is going to take place within the framework of the DKM in Wackersdorf, Kerpen and Mülsen. The fourth event of the DEKM is going to take place within the framework of the Rotax Max Challenge Euro Trophy from September 4th – 6th in Wackersdorf. The people responsible are currently working on the fifth event and also want to have it take place within the framework of a different championship.
The interest regarding the German Kart Championship is pleasantly high again in 2020. Up until now, 132 drivers from all over the world have already registered for the five grade series. The online registration is still possible with the regular fees at www.kart-dm.de.
