17 October 2017

Lonato del Garda (Brescia, Italy). DKM, the prestigious German Championship, is heading to Italy for the first time ever, as the South Garda Karting circuit of Lonato is about to stage the fifth round and closer of the season that will name the champions of all categories this coming October 20-22.

More than 200 drivers are expected in Lonato, including several stars of International karting that will contest categories KZ2, OK, OK-Junior and KZ2 Kart Cup. A lot of drivers are ready to take part in this event in Lonato and, alongside the drivers entered in the DKM Championship, several others joined the DKM circus for this event. This is a further confirmation of the success of DKM and of the circuit of Lonato.

After the first four races held in Ampfing, Kerpen and the double appointment in Wackersdorf, the challenge is still open in all categories and the closer of Lonato will name the championship winners. The points scoring system will award points for the top three of qualifying (5-3-1 pts), to the top 12 of heats (15-12-10-9-8 etc.) and to the top 15 of Race-1 and Race-2 (25-20-16-13-1110-9 etc.). The final classification will be drawn considering two jokers among the results of all the Race-1 and Race-2 and the worst result in the heats.

Jorrit Pex (CRG-TM-Vega) is currently leading KZ2. The five times DKM winner and reigning champion will be wearing CRG Holland’s colors. Jorrit Pex claimed three wins and is standing on top of the charts at 213 points, followed by his brother and team mate Stan Pex who secured two wins and 179 points so far, while Jeremy Iglesias of Formula K Racing Team is third thanks to one win and 146 points scored on his Formula K-TM-Vega. SRP Racing’s Fabian Federer harvested 122 points so far on CRG-TM-Vega. Flavio Camponeschi, who is currently fifth in the classification at 105 points, will not be able to make it, as he is still recovering from the injuries sustained in an incident at the World Championship at PFI (England).

Dennis Hauger (CRG-Iame-Vega) is leading OK with 204 points thanks to the 4 wins he secured so far. The Norwegian driver of CRG won last year’s Junior in DKM and is about to switch to motorsport with Red Bull Junior Team, but he will certainly be resolute to defend his lead in DKM from the attacks moved by David Schumacher, who is second at 166 points. The latter also scored 4 wins so far on Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega run by KSM Schumacher Racing Team. The Dutch driver of CRG Keijzer Racing Glenn Van Berlo (CRG-Iame-Vega) is currently third at 115 points, while the Spanish driver Kilian Meyer (CRG-Iame-Vega) is fourth at 111 points, and last year’s winner of OK at DKM Paavo Tonteri is fifth at 110 points on his Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega run by KSM Schumacher Racing Team.

The OK-Junior classification has the two main protagonists, namely the Dutch Kas Haverkort of CRG Keijzer Racing and the German of CRG TB Racing Team split by one point only, as the first is standing at 179 points thanks to three wins and the latter at 178 having scored two wins. Both drivers will compete on CRG-Iame-Vega. The third place of the classification is currently occupied by the French Hadrien David who totaled 136 points so far on Zanardi-Iame-Vega run by Chiesa Corse. The German Niels Troger of CRG TB Racing Team follows at 131 points on CRG-TMVega, while the Italian of KSM Schumacher Racing Team Luigi Coluccio scored 92 points on Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega.

The KZ2 Kart Cup is currently led by the German Julian Muller (Mach1-TM-Vega) who scored 156 points so far and claimed three wins. He is followed by the German Lucas Speck (Mach1-TMVega) at 150 points who has one victory under his belt, and the Austrian David Detmers (ParolinTm-Vega) who stands third at 147 points with two wins. The fourth and fifth place of the classification are currently occupied by the German Alessio Curto (Sodi-TM-Vega) at 122 points and the Austrian Nico Gruber (BirelArt-Vortex-Vega) at 113 points.
