[dropcap]G[/dropcap]REAT START FOR THE EUROPEAN CIK-FIA KZ AND KZ2 CHAMPIONSHIP, ON VIDEO ON MOTORS TV.
Last weekend in Essay, the European CIK-FIA Championship showed how spectacular the 2016 season of kart racing can be thanks to the gripping races of the KZ and KZ2 categories and the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy. The standings of the Championships are going to be uncertain until the end and the scoring system which awards points also in the heats, in the Pre-finals and in the Finals makes the overtakes more frequent. Next round will be held in Zuera (E) on 15th May for the KZ category, in Adria (I) on 5th June for the KZ2 and in Portimao (P) on 26th June for the Academy Trophy. In the meantime, the great show of kart racing continues on Motors TV, from Monday 2 nd
May to Sunday 8th May with the special TV report on the season-opener in Essay.
ARDIGÒ IS THE LEADER IN KZ.
Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) got off to a good start in this European KZ Championship: he was fourth after the heats, then the Italian driver won in the Pre-final and in the Final. The 49 points he scored rocketed him to the top of the standings. On the other hand, the Spanish Jorge Pescador (Praga-Parilla) didn’t have a perfect start in the Pre-final, after closing in first position in the heats. He finished only 8th in the Final and now occupies the fifth place in the standings with 31 points. Behind Ardigò, with 38 points, we find the French Jeremy Iglesias (Sodi Kart-TM), third in the Final after a long battle against Flavio Camponeschi (CRG-Parilla) for the second place. Camponeschi - third with 33 points – achieved a great recovery and finished behind Ardigò; in qualifying he had a rather

troubled start, which almost jeopardized his race. Paolo De Conto (CRG-Maxter) is in fourth position with 32 points; the Italian driver dropped to that position after losing ground in the last stage of the Final.
CORBERI IMMEDIATELY AHEAD IN KZ2.
The first leader of the KZ2 European Championship is the Italian Luca Corberi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), who scored 49 points by winning Pre-final 2 and the Final. The battle for the second place was between the French Paolo Besancenez (Tony KartVortex) and the Dutch Stan Pex (CRG-Vortex), who scored 40 and 38 points respectively. Pex had a better performance in the heats – he finished first – and in the Pre-final 1 he won ahead of the French. Then, in the final, Pex lost positions while Besancenez arrived in third. The Italian Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart-Vortex) trails by only one point in fourth; fifth position for the Italian Fabian Federer (CRG-Modena Engines). Lorandi was among the five top drivers for the whole weekend, while a bad result in one of the heats obliged Federer to recover many positions before scoring the second place in the Final.
BRADSHAW AT THE TOP IN ACADEMY.
Callum Bradshaw achieved maximum score in the first round of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy. He was first after the heats, then he won the Pre-final and the Final. The English leads the standings with 52 points ahead of the French Thomas Mialane, who gathered 40 points thanks to his consistency (he always finished in the first three positions). Top positions also for Mads Hansen, third with 39 points thanks to the second place scored in the Final. Fourth position for the English Oliver Clarke (30 points) while the Korean Chanjoon Lee is fifth with 25.
