CIK-FIA EURO KZ - ROUND 2: DREEZEN IN POLE POSITION
TKART Staff
10 July 2014

HOT NEWS - TKART - WACKERSDORF (GERMANY) – We must open with the following observation: in the two qualifying groups of the KZ, just two drivers managed to do better than KZ2 pole man Simone Brenna. Translated? This means two things: that track conditions worsened and that difference between the two shifter classes is getting slimmer by the day.

The two drivers we are referring two are the fastest of each qualifying group. The first is Rick Dreezen (Zanardi/Parilla), who also took the pole position, clocking out at 49.871. "I am so happy for the pole” – said the Belgian as he pulled off track – “but the fact that I went two and a half seconds slower than in the German championship two weeks ago is not a good thing". In the other group, the best time is set by Felice Tiene (CRG/Maxter), who usually competes in KF: he is debuting in the KZ thanks to a wild card and immediately proves he has no intention of playing the part of the guest and grabs the lead role, clocking out at 48.882. Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart/Vortex) runs the third fastest time overall, maintaining the championship lead. A surprise performance, instead, comes from Thomas Laurent (Tony Kart/Vortex): foruth overall at 49.996. The trio of Arnaud Kozlinski (Intrepid/TM), Bas Lammers (Formula K/Parilla) and Jorrit Pex (CRG/TM) follows in fifth, sixth, and seventh, remaining fully in the title hunt.

There is another trio, instead, who shines less than usual: Jordon Lennox-Lamb (Crg/Maxter), Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Paolo De Conto (Birel/TM). The latter, in honesty, falls prey to yet another misofrtunate incident: before the end of lap 1, a carburetor tube comes loose and his kart comes to a standstil. Ben Hanley (Art GP/TM) is beyond mid-field, but all is not yet said and done, considering the excellent rebound he did in round one.
