CIK-FIA EURO KFJ: ENAAM AHMED WINS RACE AND CHAMPIONSHIP
TKART Staff
30 August 2014

HOT NEWS - TKART - PFI (UK) - Enaam Ahmed  (FA Kart/Vortex) wins both race and championship, he is the 2014 KFJ European Champion. Ricky Flynn Motorsport’s English driver does a fantastic job of managing the advantage built so far and, even if the game behind him gets tough, at the end he deservedly cuts the finish line first.

He does a darting start and, for a second, everyone in the stands thinks he will lead the race undiscussed. Instead, behind him there are two drivers set on trying their chances, David Beckmann (Tony Kart/Parilla) and Mick Junior (Tony Kart/Vortex). Over a few laps, the two manage to settle in first and second place ahead of the soon to be European Champion. Their threat doesn’t last long, however. Ahmed, in fact, does a great job of taking back control and then stays in the lead until the checkered flag. The terrible German dup, instead, gets lost along the way: the two touch and Mick Junior ends seventh, while Beckmann does a little better and ends fifth. Alexander Vartanyan (Tony Kart/Vortex) is the one who darts for the second step of the podium, scoring the best lap and on the rebound from a delayed start. The Russian was eight on grid and literally claws his way to second place, one great pass after the other.

English driver Max Fewtrell (Fa Kart/Vortex) rounds off the podium, adding the cherry on top of a weekend on the rise. Behind the lead trio there is Juan Correa (Energy/Tm), on an 11 position rebound and extremely fast in various phases of the Final. If the US driver had done better in the Prefinal (15th) he probably would have collected an even better weekend result.

Lorenzo Travisanutto (PCR/TM) also could have done better. The Italian spends most of the race in the top seven spots, then collapses in the final phase and ends 23rd. A note of mention for great rebounds goes to Logan Sargeant (FA Kart/Vortex), 10th starting from 23rd, and Benjamin Lessennes (Kosmic/Parilla), 31st  on grid and 16th at the finish.

Thumbs down, instead, for Daniel Ticktum (Zanardi/Parilla): his Final ends two laps too soon due to a contact. And to think that, results at hand, he was the Enaam Ahmed’s closet rival going into this round. The pressure probably played against him, since - except for a few high notes - his weekend was mostly in the shadows.
