CIK-FIA EURO KF: GENK, ROUND 3, POLE POSITION FOR LANDO NORRIS
TKART Staff
12 June 2014

HOT NEWS - TKART - GENK (BE) - 61 drivers, sunshine, a little above 20°C. All the ingredients are in place to make sure that this 3rd round of the KF European will be sizzling... and drivers on track seem to be aware of it. One of the two point leaders proves to be in stunning shape and clocks out like nobody else at 53.549. Lando Norris (Fa Kart/Vortex) thus conquers a great pole position that counts like a promising pass for a first victory he still has to grab in the class (let's remember, he's a rookie).

In group one the next fastest behind Norris are Hannes Janker (Zanardi/Parilla) and Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart/Parilla), no longer with TM engines and back with Parilla motors, with which last year he became KFJ world champion. In group 2 the best time (53.709) coincides with the 4th best overall in the general standings and is set by Callum Illott (Zanardi/Parilla), eager to receover from the poor outcome of the Zuera weekend, where he closed 20th. The other provisional championship leader, Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic/Vortex) defends himself well, placing 2nd in his group and 5th best overall. Other names on the top end of the title hunt who do well on Friday are Tom Joyner (Zanardi/Parilla) and Niko Kari (Tony Kart/Vortex), respectively 10th and 12th. Another scary outsider is Felice Tiene (Crg/Parilla) who is also back with Parilla engines and places 15th at the ed of the day, due to a technicla glitch that stops his timed race after just 4 laps. The top name who seems to be struggling more than the others is Martijn Van Leeuwen, 23rd going into the heats.
