27 October 2017

The 46th Trofeo delle Industrie has been exceptionally successful so far. The race to be held at the South Garda Karting circuit of Lonato next October 27-29, has a great entry list featuring 251 drivers, a result that is second only to edition 1993.

Free practice will officially open the Trofeo delle Industrie at the circuit South Garda Karting of Lonato on Friday October 27th. This is one of the most important karting events on the international scene and is part of the CIK-FIA international calendar. The race organized by Parma Motorsport will get underway next October 27-29.

Edition 2017 of the Trofeo delle Industrie, the race that celebrates this year the 46th edition confirming its place as the oldest karting race in the world – the first edition, still organized by Parma Karting, took in fact place in 1971 – has a very important entry list featuring 251 drivers that are getting all set to get on track in KZ2, 60 Mini, OK, OK-Junior and Iame X30 Senior. To see such high figures at the Trofeo delle Industrie, we need to go back 24 years, when 261 drivers took part in the race in 1993.

Beyond the raw figures, that are quite impressive especially considering that this race has always been very attractive since 1971, this edition of the Trofeo delle Industrie has also a high quality entry list, with strong names of national and international karting heading to Lonato.

Among the most victorious drivers present this year, GP3’s driver Lorandi Alessio (Baby Race), 2011 European Champion Fabian Federer (SRP Racing Team), 2017 Italian Champion Marco Zanchetta (Maranello Kart), 2014 European Champion Andrea Dalè (Nuova 3M), multiple World and European Champion Davide Forè (Gold Kart), 2015 Italian Champion Riccardo Longhi (BirelArt), 2014 Italian Champion Lorenzo Camplese (Parolin), 2011 WSK Final Cup Champion Mirko Torsellini (Chiesa Corse), the runner up in International KZ2 Super Cup Benjamin Tornqvist (CRG Holland) and several other very strong drivers will challenge each other in KZ2 (grade with 71 entrants).

Category OK will have 20 drivers at the start. Among these, several youngsters that have been shining in the various International classifications during this season, like Leonardo Marseglia (Baby Race), Mattia Michelotto (Chiesa Corse) and Andrea Rosso (at the debut with CRG) who won the WSK OK-Junior. Francesca Raffaele will also be present for her debut with Chiesa Corse, while the Christopher Lulham (Forza Racing) from Britain will be in Lonato after taking the fifth place in this year’s European OK-Junior Championship.

The quickest so far in the OK-Junior season have been Luca Bosco and Alexey Brizhan, both with Baby Race, Forza Racing’s world pairing made by European reigning Champion Jonny Edgar (Forza Racing) and World reigning Champion Dexter Patterson, but they will certainly have to face the challenge of Harry Thompson (Ricky Flynn), who was second at the European Championship 2017. The son of former F1 driver Lorenzo Patrese (Chiesa Corse) will make his debut in this grade after his experience in 60 Mini, as Jarno Trulli’s son Enzo and Gabriele Minì (Parolin), who is the new Italian Champion of 60 Mini.

60 Mini’s entry list features 72 very young drivers, led by the Russian winner last year’s Trofeo delle Industrie Nikita Bedrin (Baby Race) and Alfio Spina (Gamoto), both always among the quickest. In the single-make Iame X30 Senior, 34 drivers will challenge each other in the second round of the Iame X30 Trophy. Among these, also the top three drivers of the Andrea Margutti Trophy: Vittorio Maria Russo, Andrea Bristot and Alessandro Brigatti.
