2012 CIK-FIA KF1 World Championship: the three European rounds cancelled
TKART Staff
16 April 2012

Less than two weeks from what should be the first round of the CIK-FIA World championship (Varennes sur Allier, 29 April), the decisions regarding the unfolding of the series remain uncertain.

The CIK-FIA, through a press release of a few hours ago, officially announced the cancellation of the three European rounds initially featured in the 5-round 2012 World Championship calendar, due to insufficient entries. Varennes (France, first round), PF International (Great Britain, third round) and Sarno (Italy, fourth round) won't host the World series, but will feature the other   events on clandear for the federation (European KF2 and KF3 in Varennes and Brandon, and World Cups KZ1-2 in September in Sarno).
As pertains the two remaining World rounds scheduled outside Europe, in Suzuka (Japan) and Macao (region under special administration by the Chinese Republic), thanks to the participation of drivers from these areas, the Championship might still take place. A decision in regards, in any case, will be taken soon.
The President and Vice-president of the Federation expressed regret and say they are ready  to forward a report to the FIA World Motor Sport Council to clear the waters about a deplorable situation that has compromised an agreement between the Federation and the main manufacturers, which, as the press release reads, have communicated their absence from the event only recently after having promised participation just a few months ago.
