In 2009, when the CIK-FIA decided to launch a new single-type world championship formula, Parolin Racing Kart immediately got into it with its chassis, as well as engines manufactured by its subsidiary FIM Motors. Thanks to its recognised technological advance, Parolin was awarded a demanding tender and embarked upon the adventure of the U18 World Championship as exclusive engine supplier, and started cooperating with the Academy Trophy as supplier of chassis and engines. At the beginning of the third season of this unique challenge, the overall assessment for the Italian company is both positive and flattering.
Parolin has been one of the major actors in kart manufacturing since its establishment in 1986. Quality is its main priority and Parolin has manufactured chassis for many years now both under its own name and on behalf of other brands. Everybody remembers, among other things, the DCOne revolution, a particularly well-manufactured chassis produced in cooperation with Dino Chiesa.
Parolin’s reputation of seriousness and professionalism is widely recognised and established. For the Academy Trophy, Parolin offers a simple and effective chassis, kindly made available to entrants (whose numbers increase each year) coming from 36 countries all over the world. Manufacturing effective chassis of consistent quality in
large numbers is not a problem for a company like Parolin, thanks to its cutting-edge equipment andflawless organisation. Universal appreciation on the part of drivers highlights the balanced design of Parolin chassis, their versatility on all circuits and in all weather conditions as well as their easy set-up.
As for engine supply, the scale of the challenge is considerable. Whether it is the Academy Trophy or the U18 World Championship, FIM Motors must provide a complete fleet of ready-to-use engines, calibrated and tested for each race, without any need to change parts between meetings since they can resist for an entire season without any problem. In a meeting such as the one held in Braga, there were as many as 170 engines in working order crowding the racks of FIM track. Only 4 engines were replaced, each time for ignition problems, a trouble well known in KF that has nothing to do with FIM Motors manufacturing process whose reliability has been fully proven over the
last two seasons.
The Parolin team is composed of 14 people, including 4 engine mechanics and 4 chassis engineers for the Academy Trophy, all accustomed to the rigorous organisation of the team and to the pressure of some competitors who believe that a new engine will put them straight into the lead of the race... At this level, there is perfect harmony
with race officials and several CIK officials do not conceal their satisfaction at cooperating with Parolin.
Other high-profile figures of the field declaredtheir support for the formula and their appreciation for the Italian company’s products.
One of them is Terry Fullerton, an outstanding figure in karting, with unique experience, World Champion in 1973 and Ayrton Senna’s strongest rival: «I absolutely support the U18 and the Academy Trophy. Parolin chassis allow a genuine confrontation between drivers of all backgrounds. The reasonable budget of this competition is essential to allow drivers with less financial resources to show their talent and
gain access to motor sport at top level. The F1 team Sahara Force India, with which I coope-rate, understands the importance of this formula for its young drivers training programme».
Armando Filini, team manager of ART GP Karting, is equally pleased: «FIM single-type
engines allow us to focus on chassis adjustments and enable us to promote our equipment in U18. Beating the competition while using the same engines is an excellent argument in favour of a brand!»
And finally, the Briton Henry Easthope - U18 winner - thanked the entire Parolin team present at Braga and dedicated his victory to them.

PAROLIN, partenaire incontournable du M18 et du Trophée Académie
Lorsque la CIK-FIA a décidé en 2009 de lancer un nouveau concept de compétition mondiale monotype, Parolin Racing Kart s’est tout de suite mis sur les rangs avec ses propres châssis et les moteurs produits par sa filiale FIM Motors. Fort d’une grande expérience s’appuyant sur une technologie de pointe Parolin a remporté un appel d’offres exigeant et s’est lancé dans l’aventure du Championnat du Monde M18 en tant que fournisseur exclusif des moteurs et dans le Trophée Académie pour la fourniture des châssis et des moteurs. Alors que débute la 3ème saison de ce challenge unique en son genre, le bilan de la marque italienne s’avère aussi positif que flatteur.
Parolin est l’un des acteurs majeurs de la production karting depuis sa création en 1986. Plaçant la qualité au centre de ses priorités, Parolin produit depuis
longtemps des châssis en son nom propre aussi bien que pour d’autres marques. Tout le monde se souvient, entre autres, de la révolution DC-One, un châssis particulièrement bien réalisé en collaboration avec Dino Chiesa. La réputation de sérieux et de professionnalisme de Parolin n’est plus à faire.
Pour le Trophée Académie, Parolin propose un châssis simple et performant, mis gracieusement à la disposition des concurrents, chaque année plus nombreux, en provenance de 36 nationalités et de tous les continents. Produire un matériel efficace de qualité constante en grande quantité ne pose aucun problème à une usine comme Parolin grâce à un équipement de pointe et une organisation sans faille.
La satisfaction unanime des pilotes met en avant l’équilibre du châssis Parolin, sa polyvalence selon les différents circuits et les conditions météo, ainsi que sa facilité de réglage.
Pour la fourniture des moteurs, le défi à relever est d’importance. Que ce soit en Trophée Académie ou en Championnat du Monde M18,
FIM Motors doit livrer un parc complet de mécaniques prêtes à l’emploi, étalonnées et testées pour chaque course, sans qu’il soit nécessaire de procéder à des changements de pièces entre les épreuves, puisqu’ils tiennent sans problème une saison complète. Sur un meeting comme celui de Braga, ce ne sont pas moins de 170 moteurs en état de marche qui remplissent les racks du camion FIM. Seulement 4 mécaniques ont dû être remplacées, à chaque fois pour des problèmes d’allumage, un souci connu en KF
qui ne relève pas de la production FIM Motors dont la fiabilité a fait largement ses preuves depuis deux saisons.
L’équipe Parolin comporte 14 personnes dont 4 techniciens motoristes et 4 ingénieurs châssis pour le Trophée Académie, tous bien rodés à l’organisation rigoureuse du team et à la pression de certains concurrents qui croient qu’un nouveau moteur les propulserait directement en tête de la course... A ce niveau, l’entente est parfaite avec les officiels et plusieurs responsables de la CIK ne cachent pas leur satisfaction de collaborer avec Parolin. D’autres personnalités du milieu affichent leur soutien pour la formule et la prestation de l’usine italienne.
C’est le cas de Terry Fullerton, un grand Monsieur du karting, à l’expérience irremplaçable, Champion du Monde 1973 et grand rival d’Ayrton Senna : « Je suis tout à fait pour le M18 et le Trophée Académie. Le matériel fourni par Parolin permet
une vraie confrontation entre des pilotes de tous horizons. Le budget raisonnable d’une telle compétition est un atout indispensable pour permettre à des pilotes peu fortunés de révéler leur talent et d’accéder aux échelons supérieurs du sport
automobile. Le team F1 Sahara Force India, avec perlequel je collabore, a bien compris l’intérêt de la formule pour son programme de formation des jeunes pilotes.»
Satisfaction également du côté d’Armando Filini, team manager ART GP Karting : « Le moteur monotype FIM nous permet de nous concentrer sur les réglages du châssis et de faire la promotion de notre matériel en M18. Battre la concurrence à moteur égal est un excellent argument pour une marque ! »
Enfin, le vainqueur de l’épreuve M18, le Britannique Henry Easthope a tenu à remercier toute l’équipe Parolin présente à Braga et leur dédie sa victoire.
