Buddy Rice Karting drivers win races and lock up championships in early season action

Team BRK Energy had a very successful few weeks of racing, already locking up their first championships of the year, and adding to their Pro Kart Challenge win total.

BRK Energy drivers Christian Brooks and Jacob Hudson solidified their positions at the top of the podium during the final two rounds of the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas in Fontana, Ca at the CalSpeed Karting Center. Brooks scored two wins in Mini-Max while Micro-Max driver Hudson earned a win and a 4th, both driver's results locked up the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas titles. With their championships, Hudson and Brooks earned a ticket to the US Rotax Grand Nationals later in the year. Brooks, the returning Mini Max National champion will defend his 2011 title and Hudson will take his first trip to the big show and compete against the best in the country.

“I'm very proud of the team” said director sportif Buddy Rice. “The juniors really brought their “A” games in the early season with Gatorz. We scored two championships with Brooks and Hudson, while Royal McKee and Derek DesLauriers both finished 3rd overall in their classes.”

While much attention was paid to the championships, there is no denying that the BRK Energy drivers had the home track dialed in. Saturday started off well for team BRK with Christian Brooks sweeping the Mini-Max class. With a pole, the heat race win, and ultimately the victory in the final Brooks was untouchable. Royal McKee finished in 5th, but captured the pole position to begin Sunday's Mini-Max action. Brooks overcame a few challenges in Sunday's final including a time penalty to procure his second win of the weekend. McKee was involved in the epic battle for 2nd place and after 16 laps joined teammate Brooks on the Gatorz podium.

Senior Rotax saw BRK Energy driver John Wallace III lead the charge on Saturday. With one of his best drives to date Wallace impressed with a fantastic 8th place finish. Andrew Zimmer also ran well finishing just outside the top ten. Zimmer and Wallace traded places in Sunday's final with Zimmer scoring 7th and Wallace ending up 13th.

Team BRK Energy posted three more top ten finishes with Masters driver Larry  Hayashigawa just missing the top five in 6th for Sunday's Masters class. Junior Rotax pilot Marco Ekains performed solidly all weekend finishing inside the top ten both days.
