Callum Ilott - KF3
Un titolo sospeso
Il pilota inglese vince due manche (con anche due miglior giri) e “paga” dieci secondi (12° posto) per partenza anticipata. Parte 4° in prefinale B dove chiude al 2° posto. Un contatto durante la gara, però, danneggia il paraurti posteriore del kart che, arrivato alle verifiche, viene escluso. Chiesa Corse presenta ricorso “congelando” le posizioni e permettendo al pilota di partecipare alla finale, dove il secondo posto gli consegna il titolo in attesa del risultato dell’appello.
Lance Stroll - KF3
Il massimo da questo weekend
In qualifica è nel gruppo lento e deve inseguire nelle manche dove, comunque, “stacca” due miglior giri, ma in una deve fare i conti con un contatto (22°). In prefinale corre alla grande e risale 4°, confermandosi al 4° posto anche in finale e, alla conta dei punti, in classifica generale. Il kart non era performante al massimo e lui, comunque, porta a casa un grande risultato: è uno dei top 5 della WSK.
Dan Ticktum - KF3
Gara influenzata dalle qualifiche
Sbaglia i tempi di qualifica, compromettendo di fatto il resto del weekend: perché nelle manche il traffico e i contatti si moltiplicano in mezzo al gruppo. Dopo le manche è 34° e in prefinale ancora una volta un contatto lo mette KO, non qualificandolo per la finale. Nei warm up e nelle prove libere era sempre fra i migliori, ma le qualifiche, quasi come accade nelle competizioni automobilistiche, sono sempre più decisive.
Nikita Mazepin - KF3
Un passo in avanti
Il pilota russo corre delle ottime manche nelle quali, dovendo rimontare (31° in qualifica), conquista importanti piazzamenti (6° e 9°). Peccato perché in prefinale (comunque 14° e qualificato) e finale due incidenti compromettono le sue gare. Cresce Km di pista dopo Km di pista: la prima parte del weekend è stata corsa al meglio, ora manca la seconda parte.
Thiago Vivacqua – KF2
Ritorno post infortunio
Ritorna in pista dopo l’infortunio alle costole rimediato due mesi fa alla Winter Cup. Costretto sempre a inseguire con il kart che non è a posto. Insomma, diverse difficoltà, ma riesce a qualificarsi alle finali. Qui un contatto lo fa ricominciare dal fondo. Corre il weekend che ci si aspettava corresse dopo la sosta forzata.
BOX MARGUTTI
Nel weekend del 24 e 25 marzo si è corso anche il Trofeo Margutti al Circuito South Garda Karting di Lonato. Due i piloti Chiesa Corse presenti con Stroll grande protagonista che raccoglie due secondi posti (entrambi con miglior giro) in prefinale e finale conquistando un importante podio. Mazepin è, invece, 18°.

Callum Ilott - KF3
Pending title
The English driver wins two heats (also with two best laps) and “pays” ten seconds (12th place) for an early start. He starts 4th in prefinal B and closes 2nd. A contact during the race, however, damages his rear bumper which is declared excluded at the time of inspection. Chiesa Corse files for appeal “freezing” the rankings and allowing the driver to take part in the final , where his second place earns him the title pending the final appeal sentence.
Lance Stroll - KF3
The maximum from this weekend
In the qualifying he is in the slow pack and has to chase in the heats, where he “brakes out” two best laps , but runs into a contact in one (22nd). In the prefinal he puts in a great race and climbs up to 4th place, confirming the result also in the final and, at the points count, also in the general standings. His kart still has to reach top performance and yet he goes home with a great result: he is in the WSK’s top 5.
Dan Ticktum - KF3
Race conditioned by qualifying sessions
He gets his qualifying times wrong, compromising the rest of the weekend: in the heat, in fact, traffic and contacts multiply in the middle pack. After the heats he is 34th and in the prefinal a contact once again knocks him out, keeping him from qualifying for the final. In the warm ups and free practice he was always up front, but the qualifyings, as happens in car race competitions, were determinant.
Nikita Mazepin - KF3
A step ahead
The Russian driver puts out excellent heats where, on the rebound (he qualified 31st), he conquers important placements (6th and 9th). Too bad that in the prefinal (though he’s 14th and qualified) and in the final two accidents compromise his races. He’s growing with each kilometer: he knows how to do a great first half of the weekend, he just has to follow through with the second half.
Thiago Vivacqua – KF2
Post-injury return
He’s back on track after the rib injury incurred two months at the Winter Cup. Forced to chase the whole time with a kart that is not set right. In short, he faces several difficulties, but manages to qualify for the finals. Here a contact makes him start all over from the back. He raced as expected, after his forced break.
BOX MARGUTTI
The March 24-25 weekend also featured the Margutti Trophy at the South Garda Karting Circuit in Lonato. Two Chiesa Corse drivers lined up, with Stroll playing star: he collects two second places (both with best lap) in the prefinal and the final, conquering an important podium. Mazepin, instead, is 18th.
