Buddy Rice Karting come away from the IKF Region 7 season opener with a win in TAG Sr. and a total of 5 top five finishes.
IKF Region 7 racing returned to Riverside, Ca. this past weekend in the season opener at the world famous Adams Motorsports Park. Team BRK Energy, a series class sponsor of TAG brought a stable of drivers to do battle in the 12 classes offered. Travis Lowe did the team proud by winning the BRK TAG Sr. class with style. Lowe expertly navigated a turn one crash that saw teammate John Wallace III get used as a tabletop jump. Both BRK Energy drivers were starting in the first two rows, but the outside line proved to be the better bet as Lowe sped off into an early lead. After three laps at 100% Lowe kicked it down a notch and cruised his #163 Energy home to the race win.
“It's nice to be here at Adams with Region 7,” said team principle Buddy Rice. “I personally have a lot of great memories from Adams as a driver racing in the Region 7 series, so it is really cool that the tradition continues. The team came away with solid results, Travis won the TAG class that we sponsor so it was a good weekend.”
US National Rotax champion Christian Brooks earned 2nd place in Saturday's KPV 2 class, but Sunday luck was not on his side as he got caught up in the “big one” in turn one. Turbo Thomas Boost had his best weekend of the year posting two top five finished. T. Boost finished a solid 4th in HPV 2 Heavy, and 5th in Junior 2 PRD. With only a handful of events under his belt Alejandro Fernandez landed a 5th place finish in TAG Sr. Most impressive was Fernandez's pass he made on a competitor in the “sandbox” corner. Veterans rarely pass there and to see a rookie do it was quite a sight.
