Rick Dreezen ha vinto la 17° Winter Cup nella classe regina, la KZ2. Il nostro pilota ha condotto una finale magistrale, dalla terza fila si è incollato al gruppo dei leaders. Dopo metà gara Dreezen, supportato da un Racer EVRR motorizzato RVXX ha rotto gli indugi sorpassando, uno ad uno, senza permettere loro alcuna replica, avversari formidabili (Kozlinski, Abbasse, Torsellini, Thonon ed Hanley) ed è andato a vincere di forza.
Il grande lavoro svolto da tutto il Racing Team è ulteriormente avvalorato dalla prova maiuscola di Marco Ardigò. Partito ultimo dopo un contatto in pre-finale, quando era al comando, Ardigò ha scalato la classifica, realizzando 28 sorpassi e siglando il best lap della gara con 41.931. Ardigò i qualifica aveva anche fatto sua la pole position con 41.661.
KZ2- Parte dalle qualifiche l’ottimo lavoro del nostro team nella classe più impegnativa. Ardigò fa segnare la pole position con un tempo
formidabile e prosegue su livelli top per tutte le manche, vincendole tutte e tre.
L’altro nostro portacolori Rick Dreezen ha avuto qualche difficoltà in qualifica e non è andato oltre il 19° tempo. Nelle manche anche Dreezen ha perfezionato al meglio il set-up del suo Racer EVRR, motorizzato RVXX, ed ha risalito la classifica in modo netto, raccogliendo un 7°, un 5° ed un 8° posto.
La pre-finale ci ha riservato subito una delusione, all’uscita della “chiocciola” Ardigò è stato vittima di un contatto, si è toccato con Forè ed
ha perso ogni possibilità di proseguire, perché il suo go kart si è danneggiato (assale piegato).
Dreezen in pre-finale ha recuperato ulteriormente, conquistando la terza fila e si è inserito nella rosa dei pretendenti al successo.
La finalissima è stata quanto mai avvincente e ricca di emozioni, per la gioia del folto pubblico. Emozioni che sono arrivate, in buona parte, proprio dai nostri due piloti.
Dreezen ha marcato il gruppo di testa, composto da Thonon, Torsellini, Kozlinski, Abbasse e Hanley. La fase di quiete è terminata a poco meno di metà gara, all’undicesimo giro, quando Dreezen ha iniziato la scalata al vertice sorpassando Abbasse. Da quel momento in poi il nostro pilota è stato implacabile, alla guida un mezzo perfetto, che gli ha consentito di compiere sorpassi puliti, che non gli hanno fatto perdere tempo.
Conquistata la testa della corsa al 17° giro, Dreez enha ha incrementato il suo vantaggio, guidando in modo fluido e sempre sul piede del 42.300.
Ardigò dall’ultima posizione ha risalito la classifica compiendo una gara spettacolare, sottolineata dalle esultanze del pubblico amico. Il nostro pilota ha segnato il best lap con un formidabile 41.931, tempo di gran lunga migliore rispetto a quello della concorrenza, ed ha sfiorato, di poco il podio, concludendo quinto.
La vittoria di Dreezen fa segnare anche il successo del Rok Lube by Petronas, nostro partner tecnico che, così, si può già fregiare di un
bel successo in una delle gare internazionali più prestigiose.
KF2 – La Winter Cup ha segnato il debutto ufficiale di ben 5 piloti con i colori ufficiali del Tony Kart Racing Team, questi sono Andy Chang, Sam MacLeod, Federico Panetta, Temu Petjor e Ling Kang. Nelle manche il lavoro dei piloti si è concentrate sulla ricerca del feeling con il nuovo contesto in cui si trovavano a lavorare, poiché a causa della neve, non tutti avevano svolto test preliminari.
Sam Mac Leod si è presentato con un ottimo 42.997, sesto tempo in qualifica
Nelle manche MacLeod si è rivelato costante e veloce ed ha chiuso con quattro terzi posti ed un quarto, conquistando la quinta posizione nella griglia della pre-finale. Il nostro nuovo pilota inglese ha visto vanificarsi tutto in pre-finale a causa di un incidente, non causato da lui, che lo ha costretto a fermarsi al settimo giro.
In finale MacLeod è riuscito a recuperare alcune posizioni, se pur rimanendo all’interno della dura bagarre di metà classifica. Lo stesso Fioravanti e Peju hanno lottato a metà classifica, dopo alcuni contatti subiti nella lotta della partenza.
A portare i Racer EVRR-Vortex sul podio ci ha pensato un nostro team partner, il Morsicani Racing con Antonio Fuoco.
Il pilota italiano è stato autore di un week end di vertice ed ha mostrato l’elevato valore tecnico del materiale Tony Kart. Fuoco ha vinto tre delle cinque manche disputate ed ha fatto sua la piazza d’onore della 17 Winter Cup.

“E’ stata una finale molto emozionante. Nei primi giri dovevo guidare in modo preciso e restare concentrato perché non avevo margine
sui primi, quindi un errore mi avrebbe costretto a perdere la loro scia. Così ho aspettato. Dopo la metà della gara ero molto veloce, ho visto che il set-up era perfetto e riuscivo ad essere molto efficace in frenata, inoltre, sul
tratto veloce riuscivo a guadagnare. A quel punto ho deciso di attaccare.
Ho sorpassato i miei avversari sempre in punti di frenata dura, così non ho perso tempo e non ho permesso loro di rispondere. Quando mi sono trovato in testa ero tranquillo, il kart andava forte, non accusavo il minimo problema ed ho vinto una gara bellissima. Sono felice anche perché ho visto tutto il team che ha esultato con trasporto per il mio successo.”

“Sono dispiaciuto perché ho guidato la gara sin dalle qualifiche, poi ho vinto le manche e….. sul più bello sono stato messo out. In ogni caso ci sono dei buoni elementi per sorridere. Abbiamo fatto un ottimo lavoro sui motori, il telaio si comportava magnificamente ed ogni intervento che abbiamo fatto ci ha spinto ancora più avanti, questo mi fa guardare al lavoro che ci aspetta con ottimismo. In finale mi sono divertito molto, avevo un kart velocissimo e non mi sono mai dato per vinto, ho spinto fortissimo ed ho recuperato, se solo lì davanti avessero fatto un po’ di lotta….. chissà, magari potevo sperare di salire sul podio.”

DREEZEN DRAWS THE TITLE AT THE WINTER CUP
Rick Deezen wins the 17th Winter Cup in the master class, KZ2. Our driver ran an
excellent final, from the third row he reached the group of the leaders. After half race Dreezen, driving a Racer EVRR chassis powered by RVXX engine, came to a decision and overtook, one by one, exceptional rivals (Kozlinski, Abbasse, Torsellini, Thonon and Hanley) going straight to the victory, without allowing retakes. The very good work done by the whole Racing Team staff is furthermore strengthened with the great performance of Marco Ardigò. He started in last position after a slight collision in the pre-final, while he was the leader, and then he recovered, with not less than 28 overtakings, signing the best lap timing of the race with 41.931.
During the qualifying rounds Ardigò also signed the pole position with 41.661
KZ2 - The good work made by our racing team starts since the qualifying rounds in the most demanding category. Ardigò achieves the pole position with an excellent timing and goes on running at top levels in all rounds, winning all three ones.
The other driver of ours, Rick Dreezen has some troubles during the qualifying rounds and could reach the 19th timing only. During the manches also Dreezen could improve his Racer EVRR set-up, powered by a RVXX engine, climbing the classification and gaining a 7th, 5th and 8th position.
The pre-final gave us soon bad news; just beyond the “spiral path” Ardigò got a slight collision with Forè and lost any chance to go on since his chassis was hardly damaged (folded axle).
Dreezen in the pre-final further recovered some positions, reaching the third row, thus entering the group of the drivers pretenders to the success.
The very final was really thrilling and full of emotions mostly given by our two drivers, rewarding the huge number of fans.
Dreezen fought amongst the leaders, Thonon, Torsellini, Kozlinski, Abbasse and Hanley. The “soft notes” of the competition ended at half race, at the eleventh round, when Dreezen started to climb at top positions, overtaking Abbasse. From then on our driver has been a relentless
rival, at the drive of a perfect chassis allowing him to perform flawless overtakings without losing precious time.

Ardigò from the last position greatly recovered, making a spectacular race, applauded by a friendly public. Our driver signed the best lap with an excellent 41.391, a timing largely betterthan the rivals’, closing with a fifth position and missing the podium by a hair’s breadth.
Dreezen’s success is also the success of the Rok Lube by Petronas, our technical partner who can be satisfied with such a success in one of the most prestigious International competitions.
KF2 – The Winter Cup can be considered as the official début of not less than 5 drivers wearing the official colours of the Tony Kart Racing Team. They are Andy Chang, Sam MacLeod, Federico
Panetta, Teemu Petjoi and Ling Kang. During the rounds the work of drivers has been focused on looking for the best concentration in such working conditions, since because the snowing weather not all drivers could perform test sessions. Sam MacLeod begun with a very good 42.997, sixth best timing in the qualifying rounds.
During the rounds MacLeod was constant and fast closing with not less than four third positions and a fourth one, and conquering the fifth position at the starting grid in the pre-final.
Unfortunately during the pre-final, our new English driver realized that any effort he made was fruitless since, due to an accident he was prevented to go beyond the seventh round and was forced to stop.
In the final MacLeod could recover some positions, however he’s still fights in the half of the classification. Fioravanti and Petjoi as well, had to struggle after some collisions occurred at the beginning.
It was our partner-team Morsicani who took our Racer EVRR-Vortex on the podium, with Antonio Fuoco.
The Italian driver was at the top in the whole week-end and showed the great technical value of Tony Kart’s material. Fuoco won three out of the fifth rounds attended and achieved the title of the 17 th
Winter Cup.

“It was a really exciting final. In the first rounds I had to drive very precisely and had to stay concentrated since I had no gap over the drivers at the top positions, so even a small mistake could mean to lose them for the whole race. That’s why I took my time. After half of the race I was really fast, the chassis set-up was perfect and I was able to perform good brakings, moreover over the fast paths I was also able to gain time. Right then I decided to attack. I overtook my rivals at hard braking points so I did not lose time and did not allow them to
respond. Once I found myself leader of the race I was calm and the kart went fast, I did not have technical problems at all, thus I could perform a wonderful win. I am also happy since I saw my whole team rejoicing for my success”.

However we have many things to be satisfied with. We performed a very good work with the engines, the chassis perfectly respond and anything we set out put us even further, this makes
me look ahead positively at the work we still have to do. In the final I enjoyed a lot, I had a fast kart and I did my best until the end, I was fast and was able to gain some positions, if only the leading drivers fought a little…. maybe I could have got on up the podium.”
