LANCE STROLL – KF3
Nelle qualifiche ha qualche problema ed è costretto a inseguire nelle manche. In prefinale parte 23° e, mentre è in rimonta, è costretto a lasciare a causa di un incidente. Tutto da ricominciare ma in finale, a suon di sorpassi e giri veloci, il pilota canadese risale fino al 15° posto.

“È andato bene perché è difficile partire dal fondo e arrivare tra i primi. Potevamo fare meglio, ma nelle gare secche è così: si vince e si perde”.
MATTHEW GRAHAM – KF3
Non disputa le qualifiche per un problema al carburatore, ma nelle manche è super: nella prima nonostante un contatto chiude 13°, poi 11° e 6°. In prefinale è 17° e si rende protagonista di una rimonta incredibile: è 4°. In finale conferma la velocità, facendo anche segnare il miglior giro assoluto: peccato che, pur trovandosi anche in testa alla gara, un contatto lo abbia fatto retrocedere fino all’8° posto che lui, negli ultimi giri, ha trasformato in 5° posto (a un passo dal quartetto di testa). “Qualche vicissitudine non gli ha permesso di vincere. Ma era uno dei più veloci, se non il più veloce, in pista. Potrà far bene in KF2 nel 2012”.
MAX DEFOURNY – KF3
Nelle manche raccoglie dei buoni piazzamenti (9°, 13°, 14°) che gli permettono la qualificazione alle finali. In prefinale lotta in mezzo al gruppo e chiude 23° nonostante qualche contatto, mentre un incidente lo mette KO in finale.

“Non è stata la sua miglior gara. Per tutti la pista è stata davvero difficile da interpretare e lui ha pagato la sua giovane età. Poi, come spesso capita, qualche incidente e contatto condizionano le gare e i risultati. Vediamo ”.
In udienza: ACCOLTO IL RICORSO ALLA FIA PER NYCK DE VRIES
La FIA ha accolto l’appello fatto da Chiesa Corse per Nyck De Vries. Meglio spiegare dall’inizio: in occasione della terza tappa del Mondiale CIK-FIA che si è corso lo scorso 3-4 settembre, a Genk in Belgio, in finale 2 Nyck De Vries, poi vincitore della gara, e Flavio Camponeschi sono stati protagonisti di un contatto di gara: in un primo momento il contatto aveva causato la squalifica al pilota olandese della Chiesa Corse. Il team, sicuro dell’innocenza del ragazzo, ha però fatto appello alla FIA. Ricorso che è stato accolto: “Ha vinto lo sport”, dice Dino Chiesa, che aggiunge: “Guardo il bicchiere mezzo pieno: se non ci fosse stato l’appello, oggi ci troveremmo con una squalifica immeritata. Però non trovo giusto l’essere costretti a fare appello per far sì che venga fuori la verità. Anche perché abbiamo scoperto sulla nostra pelle cosa significa fare un ricorso: costi ingenti, la presentazione delle memorie (150 pagine) in 10 copie in francese e in 10 in inglese, i soldi per un avvocato e la grande quantità di tempo da dedicare a tutta la questione. Forse bastava solo un pizzico di buon senso in più fin dall’inizio”. Per De Vries non c’è più la squalifica, ma solo una penalizzazione di 10 secondi che gli permette di consolidare la testa della classifica a punti, in vista dell’ultimo appuntamento che si correrà a Suzuka il 13 novembre prossimo.

In the qualifiying practice he had some problems and in the heats he was forced to chase. In the prefinal he started off 23rd and, in the process of working his way up, was then forced to withdraw due to an accident. This meant having to start all over again, but in the final, one pass and fast lap after another, the Canadian driver climbed up to 15th place.

“He did a good job, because it’s hard to start from the bottom and finish among the first. We could’ve done better but in single-shot competitions this is how it: you win and you lose.”
MATTHEW GRAHAM – KF3
He didn’t compete in the qualifying practices due to problems with his carburettor, but in the heats he was super: in the first he closed 13th, despite a contact, then 11th and 6th. In the prefinal he started 17th and became the star of an incredible rebound: he ended 4th. In the final he confirmed his top speeds and also scored absolute best lap: too bad that despite being in the lead of the race a contact pushed him back to an 8th position that in the last laps he turned into a 5th place (a step away from the leading group). Had he had a couple more laps to go…

“Some turn of events kept him from winning. But he was one of the fastest, if not the fastest, on the track. He’ll be able to do well in KF2 in 2012.”
MAX DEFOURNY – KF3
In the heats he collected good spots (9th, 13th, 14th) that allowed him to qualify for the finals. In the prefinal he fought his way in mid-group and closed 23rd despite a few contacts, but then an accident sent him to the mat in the final.
Dino Chiesa’s comment
“This wasn’t his best race. Everyone had a hard time interpreting the track and he paid the price of being very young. On top of that, as often happens, an accident and some contacts conditioned his racing and results. We’ll see.”

THE APPEAL TO THE FIA FOR NYCK DE VRIES HAS BEEN ACCEPTED
The FIA has accepted Chiesa Corse’s appeal for Nyck De Vries. Let’s go back to the beginning: in final 2 of the third round of the CIK-FIA World Championship raced on September 3rd and 4th in Genk, Belgium, there was a copmntact between Nyck De Vries, who ended up winning that race, and Flavio Camponeschi. At first this had caused the disqualification of Chiesa Corse’s Dutch driver. So the team, convinced of the kid’s innocence, appealed to the FIA. The appeal has now been accepted: “This is a victory for sports,” Dino Chiesa commented, adding: “I see the glass half full: if it weren’t for the appeal, we’d have an undeserved disqualification. Still, I don’t think it’s fair that one has to resort to appeal so that the truth may prevail. Especially because we found out on our own skin what filing for appeal means: huge costs, having to present 10 copies in French and 10 in English of our account of events (150 pages), plus lawyer’s fees and huge amounts of time spent on the whole matter. Perhaps using just a little bit more common sense from the beginning would have sufficed.” No more disqualification for De Vries: just a 10 second penalty that allows him to consolidate his leadership of the points rankings, in view of the last round in Suzuka on November 13th.
