TWO VICTORIES TO CHASE AFTER THE TITLE: THE CIRCUIT IN SARNO, ITALY, HOSTED THE FOURTH ROUND OF THE KF1 WOLRD CHAMPIONSHIP AND THE CIK-FIA WORLD CUP IN KF2 AND KF3. CHIESA CORSE WAS PRESENT WITH TWO DRIVERS
NYCK DE VRIES - KF1
Come ogni weekend Mondiale, sono 4 le finali. Nyck De Vries fa l’en-plein il sabato:
sia le qualifiche che le Finali 1 e 2 lo vedono unico protagonista. Il pilota olandese
chiude 1° tutte le gare a cui partecipa, facendo anche segnare il miglior giro in
pista. E la domenica, inizia con lo stesso risultato: grazie alle qualifiche, infatti,
riesce a guadagnare la pole per la Finale 3. Alla partenza deve prestare attenzione
alla velocità per non incappare in penalizzazioni e perde qualche posizione: in
rimonta, quando era già 2°, deve fare i conti con un guasto tecnico ed è costretto ad
abbandonare. Poco male, secondo regolamento si può scartare il peggior risultato: ma in
Finale 4 serve una difficile rimonta. Che arriva, ma che non si completa fino a un
possibile podio a causa di qualche contatto. L’olandese chiude comunque con il miglior
giro in pista e con un 6° posto che gli consente di essere in piena lotta per la
conquista del titolo Mondiale.
Il commento di Dino Chiesa
“A Suzuka (il prossimo 13 novembre, ndr) si decide il Mondiale. Penso che se lo
giochino in 3: Nyck, Albon e Camponeschi. Ma il vero ago della bilancia sarà la Tony
Kart. De Vries e Albon saranno “soli” in griglia, mentre la Tony, contando anche i
piloti Kosmic e Tony Kart Junior Team, avrà una squadra composta da tanti driver che
potranno portare via punti importanti ai primi”.
LANCE STROLL - KF3
Il pilota canadese affronta per la prima volta la Coppa del Mondo. Nelle qualifiche ha
qualche problema e nella prima manche è costretto ad abbandonare per la caduta della
catena. Tutto compromesso? Neanche per sogno: Stroll fa delle bellissime manche,
rimontando a ogni gara (fino al 3° e 4° posto in due prove) e riuscendo ad agguantare
la qualificazione. In prefinale risale benissimo dal 26° posto, chiudendo 14°. In
finale parte con l’obiettivo di arrivare nei primi 10, ma un incidente lo mette KO.
Il commento di Dino Chiesa
“Era sicuramente da top 10. Ma prestazioni del genere ci dicono che sta facendo bene;
che sta accumulando molta esperienza. In KF3, poi è così: a volte ha fortuna uno, a
volte un altro. Ma non abbiamo alcun rimpianto. Noi abbiamo fatto il nostro lavoro e il
pilota il suo”.
In pista 2
UN OMAGGIO ALL’ITALIA
Da qualche gara a questa parte è quasi un appuntamento fisso: Nyck De Vries e il suo
kart si rinnovano portando in pista un messaggio. Questa volta la livrea del kart è un
inconfondibile omaggio all’Italia: “Il marchio è italiano, così come il team e il
motore. Se poi consideriamo che Sarno è stata anche l’unica gara CIK-FIA in Italia a
cui partecipava, il quadro si completa”. Spiega così Dino Chiesa il kart Zanardi/Parilla tricolore. E vien da sé che la divisa tutta arancione del pilota sia una dedica alla sua Olanda: “Solo il pilota non era italiano e allora per distinguerlo dal kart abbiamo deciso di puntare sulla classica tinta Orange…”. Insomma, un bel modo per festeggiare i 150 anni dell’Unità d’Italia.

NYCK DE VRIES - KF1
Like every weekend of the World championship, 4 finals were raced. On Saturday, Nyck De
Vries hit jackpot: he was the absolute star of the qualifying races as well as of Final
1 and 2. The Dutch driver came in 1st in all races, also scoring best lap. Sunday began
with the same result: thanks to great qualifications, he earned pole position for Final
3. At the start he had to keep his speed in check to avoid penalties and lost some
positions; then in recovery, when he was already 2nd, he had to deal with a technical
problem and was forced to leave the race. Not so bad in the end, since regulations
allow to ignore the worst result, but it meant having to pull a difficult comeback in
Final 4. And he did pull it off, but failed to land on a podium that was in full reach
due to a few contacts. In any case, the Dutch driver closed with best lap and a 6th
position that places him fully in the game to conquer the World title.
Dino Chiesa’s comment
“The World champion will be decided in Suzuka (Japan, on November 13th, a.n.). I think
there are 3 contenders: Nyck, Albon and Camponeschi. But the real deciding factor will
Tony Kart. De Vries and Albon will be “alone” on the grid, while Tony, being able to
rely on drivers from the Kosmic and Tony Kart Junior teams, will line up a squad
composed by many different drivers who may potentially steal points from the top
runners.”
LANCE STROLL - KF3
The Canadian driver faced the World Cup for the first time. He ran into some problems
in the qualifying race and in the first heat was forced to withdraw when his chain came
off. Was everything lost? No way. Stroll did some great heats, climbing up in every
race (up to 3rd and 4th place in two of them) and earning his qualification. In the
prefinal he did a great recovery from 26th place and closed 14th. In the final he
started with the goal of making the top 10, but an accident threw him to the mat.
Dino Chiesa’s comment
“He certainly raced well enough to be in the top 10. Performances like this are a sign
he is doing a good job, that he’s getting a lot of experience. Besides, this is how
things go in KF3: luck takes its turns. But we have no regrets. We did our job and the
driver his.”
On track 2
A HOMAGE TO ITALY
It’s almost become a fixed feature over the last few races: Nyck De Vries and his kart
sending a message to the track. This time the kart’s outfit paid an unmistakable homage
to Italy: “The logo is Italian, just like the team and the engine. If you also consider
that Sarno was the only CIK-FIA race in Italy he took part in, you have a full table”.
This is how Dino Chiesa explained the Zanardi/Parilla kart donned in the colours of the
Italian flag. And it only makes sense that the driver’s all-orange race suit was
dedicated to his country, the Netherlands: “The only non-Italian thing was the driver
so, to distinguish him from the kart, we decided to go with the classic shade of orange
…”. What a nice way to celebrate Italy’s 150th anniversary.
