Over 200 drivers at Zuera
Having organised the World Karting Championship in 2010, Zuera is preparing to host on 21-24 July a CIK-FIA event with an even more attractive cast as the World Championship will be back in its new KF1 multi-round guise. It will be accompanied by the big caravans of the European KF2 and KF3 Championships. Overall, the paddock will gather all the major Teams and over 200 participants!

Plus de 200 pilotes à Zuera
Hôte du Championnat du Monde en 2010, Zuera s’apprête à accueillir ces 21-24 juillet une épreuve CIK-FIA à l’affiche plus alléchante encore : le Mondial y revient, dans sa nouvelle mouture KF1 et multi-étapes. Il sera accompagné des caravanes fournies des Championnats d’Europe de KF2 et KF3. Au total, le paddock rassemblera toutes les grandes Équipes et plus de 200 participants!
After Germany, Zuera will then see the second stage of the World KF1 Championship held over five rounds. The first event confirmed the pre-season forecasts: tipped as favourite, Holland’s Nyck de Vries almost humiliated all his opponents in the German meeting as none of the four Races which are now scheduled in each World event escaped Mr 100 percent! Will he be able to renew this feat at Zuera, where he won his first World title last September? Although it cannot be discarded, the opposition has not yet given up, more especially as the Championship is long: after all, only four Races out of twenty have been held.
Whence will counter-attacks come? Even though they were unable to hold de Vries back in Germany for a long time, several Competitors managed to remain ahead of him for a few racing laps: Matteo Vigano, Karol Basz, Léo Roussel and Libor Toman. The Belgian Sebastien Bailly, currently 3rd in the Championship behind De Vries and Basz, and the Italians Ignazio D’Agosto and Flavio Camponeschi have also shown they are ambitious. And don’t forget Alexander Albon! Even if he was was still only a Junior a few months ago (he won the KF3 World Cup and the European Championship last year), the young British driver is now also beginning to get his bearings in the top category.
The Zuera bill will be especially busy because of the thirty (!) KF2 & KF3 qualifying heats scheduled for Saturday. For the 189 Drivers entered in these two categories, participating in the Spanish event is already a token of their qualification for these European Championships since in order to enter they had to overcome the obstacle of the regional Trophies (North and South). If one goes by the outcome of these selections, the favourites in KF3 should be the Spaniard Alex Palou and the Norwegian Dennis Olsen, who also recently landed the Viking Trophy. And in KF2 the “regional” winners were Britain’s Tom Joyner (North) and France’s Enzo Guibbert (South).
KF2 and KF3 timed practice is scheduled for Friday 22 July at the end of the day. All the qualifying heats and Races 1 & 2 of KF1 will take place on Saturday 23 July so as to concentrate the prefinals and finals on the Sunday.

Réparti sur cinq épreuves, le Championnat du Monde de KF1 en sera à sa deuxième représentation à Zuera, après avoir commencé en Allemagne. L’épreuve inaugurale a confirmé les pronostics d’avant-saison : donné favori, le Néerlandais Nyck de Vries y a presque humilié tous ses adversaires : pas une seule des quatre Courses qui composent désormais chaque épreuve mondiale ne lui a échappé. Du 100% ! Rééditera-t-il l’exploit à Zuera, ce circuit qui l’a vu gagner son premier titre mondial en septembre 2010 ? Ce n’est pas à exclure mais l’opposition n’est pas encore disposée à baisser les bras, d’autant que le Championnat est long : après tout, seules quatre Courses sur vingt ont été disputées.
De qui viendra la réplique ? Faute d’avoir pu contenir longtemps de Vries en Allemagne, ils ont été plusieurs à boucler quelques tours de course devant lui : Matteo Vigano, Karol Basz, Léo Roussel et Libor Toman. Attention aussi au Belge Sébastien Bailly, troisième du Championnat derrière De Vries et Basz, ou encore aux Italiens Ignazio D’Agosto et Flavio Camponeschi. Enfin, le jeune Britannique Alexander Albon, qui n’était encore que Junior il y a quelques mois (il remporta d’ailleurs la Coupe du Monde et le Championnat d’Europe KF3), commence aussi à prendre ses repères dans la catégorie-reine.
Le programme de Zuera sera particulièrement chargé du fait des trente (!) manches qualificatives à courir le samedi en KF2 et KF3. Pour les 189 Pilotes de ces deux catégories, la participation à l’épreuve espagnole témoigne déjà de leur qualification à ces Championnats d’Europe puisque pour pouvoir s’y engager il leur a fallu franchir l’obstacle des Trophées régionaux (Nord et Sud). Si l’on se fie aux résultats de ces sélections, les favoris en KF3 devraient être l’Espagnol Alex Palou et le Norvégien Dennis Olsen, lequel s’est aussi adjugé récemment le Viking Trophy. Et en KF2, les lauréats « régionaux » ont été le Britannique Tom Joyner (Nord) et le Français Enzo Guibbert (Sud).
Les essais chronométrés des KF2 et KF3 sont programmés ce vendredi 22 juillet en fin de journée. Toutes les manches qualificatives plus les Courses 1 & 2 de la KF1 se disputeront le samedi 23 juillet, de façon à concentrer les préfinales et finales sur le dimanche.
Attention : pour se plier aux habitudes locales, les activités se termineront le dimanche vers 15h00. Tous les résultats seront publiés en temps réel sur www.cikfia.com.
