European KZ1 Champion: Energy Corse Makes It!

The meeting in Wackersdorf (Germany) was definitely one of the two most important events of the season. This is why the Energy Corse team had prepared meticulously for the most coveted European Championship in 2011, KZ1, where the best drivers in the world and all major international teams compete. Italian Paolo De Conto put in a fantastic performance. Leader after the qualifying heats and winner of the pre-final, he triumphed in the final race at the wheel of his Energy-TM/Rizzi. Crowned KZ2 vice European Champion, Swedish Joel Johansson showed that Energy has definitely been the most successful on the very demanding circuit of Wackersdorf. These brilliant results came to add to those achieved over the last few weeks in the WSK Master Series.
De Conto and Energy: The Successful Story Continues
Paolo De Conto put up a near-perfect performance, especially on Sunday afternoon when he was at the lead in 40 of the 42 laps in the final phase. And he crossed the finish line as winner with a clear lead. "Although I won the European KZ2 Championship in 2010 (with Energy team of course), I thought I could not replicate that success on my first season in KZ1, in the middle of such experienced drivers. But I could rely on a kart which was formidably effective from the first to the last lap. Both in the pre-final and final race, once I got in the lead, I could quickly gain ground and then control my race by remaining focussed until the end!"
Energy Always at the Top in KZ2
Fighting each year for the podium or victory in the European KZ2 Championship has become a constant for Energy, which has conquered many victories in this category. This time, it was Joel Johansson who became vice European Champion. "This result is a great joy for me, because I made a silly mistake in a heat on Saturday and I had to fight during the whole final phase to be able to get to second place".
WSK Master Series: Heading Towards the Title
Week after week, race after race, Energy continues to devote all its efforts to allowing its drivers to get to the lead, in all the categories. In the WSK Master Series, Paolo De Conto conquered two more successes, first at Val Vibrata in May, and then at Siena, in June. He is now leader of the KZ1 Championship one meeting before the conclusion. In KF3, Energy put up a splendid team performance at Val Vibrata with Robin Hansson, Thiago Vivacqua, Vasily Romanov, and Dennis Olsen classified from the 2nd to the 5th place! Olsen was only 33rd on the start grid… Again very fast in Siena, Hansson is now aiming to the second place in the provisional standings. The excellent performances shown by Sami Luka and Nicolaj Moller-Madsen in KF2 at Val Vibrata are also worth mentioning, as well as progress made by young hopefuls Isac Valtonen (Sweden), Giuliano Rauchi (Brazil), and Nikita Alexandrov (Russia) in 60 Mini.

"For Energy Corse, it is a fantastic emotion to win the European KZ1 Championship, because this is the first year we have decided to make a real effort in this category. After Dunlop's decision to use medium tyres instead of the soft ones initially chosen, I think we were among those who found the best technical solutions to adapt our chassis to that change and to the characteristics of this difficult circuit, in addition to perfectly managing tyre wear as well.
These titles are also the result of a sporting policy we implemented together with our drivers. Paolo De Conto and Joel Johansson have been in the team for several years now and they have made important progress, step by step. Campionato europeo KZ1: Energy ce l'ha fatta!
L'appuntamento di Wackersdorf (Germania) era sicuramente uno dei due più importanti della stagione. La Energy Corse si era quindi preparata alla perfezione per affrontare il Campionato europeo più ambito del 2011, quello della KZ1, dove si sono dati appuntamento i migliori piloti al mondo e tutte le più grandi squadre internazionali. L'italiano Paolo De Conto è stato strabiliante. Leader alla fine delle manche di qualificazione e vincitore della prefinale, ha trionfato in finale al volante del suo Energy-TM/Rizzi. Eccezionale vice campione europeo KZ2, lo svedese Joel Johansson ha dimostrato che il marchio Energy era il più presente a Wackersdorf su un tracciato particolarmente difficile. Questi brillanti risultati sono venuti ad aggiungersi a quelli ottenuti in queste ultime settimane nella WSK Master Series.
De Conto ed Energy: la storia continua
Il week-end di Paolo De Conto è stato quasi perfetto, soprattutto domenica pomeriggio durante la finale in testa per 40 giri su 42 tagliando il traguardo vincitore con un netto vantaggio. "Anche se ho vinto il Campionato europeo KZ2 nel 2010 (con la squadra Energy ovviamente), non pensavo di poter ripetere l'exploit fin dalla mia prima stagione nella KZ1, in mezzo a piloti con tanta esperienza. Ma ho avuto a disposizione un mezzo decisamente performante dal primo all'ultimo giro. In prefinale e in finale, appena mi sono trovato in testa ho potuto staccare subito gli altri e gestire poi la mia corsa restando concentrato fino alla fine!"
Energy sempre ai vertici nella KZ2
Battersi ogni anno per il podio o per la vittoria nel Campionato europeo KZ2 è diventata una costante per Energy, vittoriosa in varie occasioni in questa categoria. Questa volta è toccato a Joel Johansson diventare vice campione europeo. "Questo risultato è una grande soddisfazione per me poiché, dopo uno stupido errore commesso in una manche sabato, ho dovuto battermi per tutta la fase finale per poter rimontare in seconda posizione".
WSK Master Series: in corsa per il titolo
Settimana dopo settimana, corsa dopo corsa, Energy continua a fare di tutto per piazzare in suoi piloti nei primi posti in tutte le categorie. Così alla WSK Master Series Paolo De Conto ha aggiunto due nuovi successi: in maggio a Val Vibrata e poi in giugno a Siena. Ed eccolo in testa al Campionato KZ1 a un appuntamento dalla fine. Nella KF3 il marchio Energy ha messo a segno un ottimo risultato a Val Vibrata piazzando ben 4 piloti (Robin Hansson, Thiago Vivacqua, Vasily Romanov e Dennis Olsen) dal secondo al quinto posto! Eppure Olsen partiva solo dal 33° posto….Nuovamente molto veloce a Siena, Hansson punta attualmente alla seconda posizione della classifica provvisoria. Da notare anche le belle performance di Sami Luka e Nicolaj Moller-Madsen nella KF2 a Val Vibrata e i progressi dei giovani Isac Valtonen (Svezia), Giuliano Rauchi (Brasile) e Nikita Alexandrov (Russia) nella 60 Mini.

"Per Energy Corse è un'emozione fantastica vincere il Campionato europeo KZ1 poiché si tratta del primo anno in cui abbiamo deciso d'impegnarci veramente in questa categoria. Dopo la decisione presa da Dunlop di utilizzare degli pneumatici "medi" invece di quelli "morbidi" inizialmente previsti, penso che dal punto di vista tecnico siamo stati tra coloro che meglio hanno interpretato questa novità riuscendo ad adattare il nostro telaio a questo cambiamento e alle caratteristiche di questo difficile circuito, gestendo alla perfezione l'usura degli pneumatici. Questi titoli sono inoltre il risultato di una politica sportiva implementata insieme ai nostri piloti. Paolo De Conto e Joel Johansson sono in squadra da anni e hanno fatto dei progressi graduali. Siamo fieri di constatare il successo di questo lavoro specifico volto a preparare il futuro. Champion d’Europe KZ1 : Energy l’a fait !
Le meeting de Wackersdorf en Allemagne était assurément l’un des deux plus importants de la saison. L’équipe Energy Corse s’était donc parfaitement préparée pour affronter le Championnat d’Europe le plus convoité en 2011, celui du KZ1, où l’on retrouve les meilleurs pilotes mondiaux et toutes les plus grandes équipes internationales. L’Italien Paolo De Conto s’y est montré impérial. Leader à l’issue des manches de qualification et vainqueur de la pré-finale, il a triomphé en finale au volant de son Energy-TM/Rizzi. Sacré vice Champion d’Europe KZ2, le Suédois Joel Johansson a montré que la marque Energy était bien la plus en vue à Wackersdorf, sur un tracé particulièrement éprouvant. Ces brillants résultats sont venus s’ajouter à ceux obtenus ces dernières semaines à la WSK Master Series.
De Conto et Energy: La belle histoire continue
Paolo De Conto a réalisé un parcours presque parfait, notamment le dimanche après-midi en menant 40 des 42 tours lors de la phase finale. Et c’est avec une nette avance qu’il a coupé la ligne d’arrivée en vainqueur. “Même si j’ai gagné le Championnat d’Europe KZ2 en 2010 (avec le team Energy bien sûr), je ne pensais pas pouvoir réaliser le même exploit dès ma première saison en KZ1, au milieu de pilotes si expérimentés. Mais j’ai bénéficié d’un matériel d’une efficacité redoutable, du premier au dernier tour. En pré-finale comme en finale, dès que je me suis retrouvé en tête, j’ai pu rapidement prendre de l’avance et gérer ensuite ma course en restant concentré jusqu’au bout !”
Energy toujours au top en KZ2
Se battre chaque année pour le podium ou la victoire au Championnat d’Europe KZ2, c’est devenu une constante pour l’équipe Energy, titré en de multiples occasions dans cette catégorie. Cette fois, c’est Joel Johansson qui est devenu vice Champion d’Europe. “Ce résultat, c’est une grande joie pour moi, car j’ai réalisé une erreur stupide dans une manche le samedi et j’ai dû me battre tout au long de la phase finale pour pouvoir revenir en 2e position”.
WSK Master Series: En route vers le titre
Semaine après semaine, course après course, Energy continue de tout mettre en oeuvre pour hisser ses pilotes aux avant-postes dans toutes les catégories. Ainsi, à la WSK Master Series, Paolo De Conto a ajouté deux nouveaux succès en mai à Val Vibrata, puis en juin à Sienne. Le voilà en tête du Championnat KZ1 à un meeting de la fin. En KF3, la marque Energy s’est offert un brillant tir groupé à Val Vibrata avec Robin Hansson, Thiago Vivacqua, Vasily Romanov et Dennis Olsen, classés de la 2e à la 5e place ! Ce dernier ne partait pourtant que 33e… De nouveau très rapide à Sienne, Hansson pointe actuellement en 2e position au classement provisoire. “Pour Energy Corse, c’est une fantastique émotion de gagner le Championnat d’Europe KZ1, car c’est la première année que nous avons décidé de nous investir vraiment dans cette catégorie. Après la décision prise par Dunlop d’utiliser des pneus “médiums” au lieu des “softs” initialement prévus, je pense que nous avons été parmi les mieux inspirés sur le plan technique pour adapter notre châssis à ce changement et aux caractéristiques de ce circuit difficile, tout en gérant parfaitement l’usure des pneus.
Ces titres, c’est aussi le résultat de la politique sportive que nous avons mis en œuvre avec nos pilotes. Paolo De Conto et Joel Johansson sont dans le team depuis plusieurs années et ils ont progressé “step by step”. Nous sommes fiers de constater la réussite de ce travail spécifique visant à préparer l’avenir.
